Covering themes such as friendship, temptation, sibling rivalry, self-esteem and materialism, The Action Bible Devotional offers a year’s worth of activities, questions and ideas that will keep young readers engaged with the Bible every day.

Each "adventure" begins with an illustrated story. At the end of each Bible story you have a, “Key Verse” from the passage where the story was taken from.  Next a life application section which they call the “X-Ray Vision” to help you see the context of the Bible and apply it your daily life and walk with Jesus.

The next page is followed by, “Your Mission" Which challenges the reader with three questions to help readers apply the lessons to their daily lives. “Your Debrief” section asks the readers some thought provoking question to what they learn, how they feel, and their responses to apply this application to their daily walk. Finally, it ends with, “Mission Accomplished” Which focuses on what you learned and remembered.

My Thoughts:

I have to say that this is a vivid Bible devotion with lots of colors. My children love this devotional and are excited to read it.

 It definitely paraphrases the Biblical stories. The author did what they intended to do with the vivid pictures to get the interest of young readers. It turns the Bible text into life.

 I was attracted by the colorful illustrated figures in the book. I call it more of a book rather than a "bible" because it is more of an interpretation and paraphrasing of selected Bible stories. There is little context given, and the lessons have all been done on behalf of the reader. The Biblical stories leave out a lot of info. I am okay with that if it gets young readers interested in reading the Bible by themselves.   

This devotional can stand alone by itself without the “Action Bible” I was impressed with this book. I have the digital version that I received for review purposes. My only downfall is that I would rather have this as a print copy rather than a digital edition. I think it would be much more impressive in print.

I would definitely recommend this for anyone who has a child that loves graphic, colorful, and illustrated stories.  Or maybe you’re looking for a new way to introduce the Bible to a child. This devotional will do it. This will excite any child about God’s word.
