Whatever is Lovely by Allia Zobel Nolan Book Review

Totally change your life by changing your thoughts?

That is the goal of Whatever Is Lovely: A 90-Day Devotional Journal from internationally-published author, Allia Zobel Nolan, in the popular Faithgirlz brand. With examples based on real contemporary girls, each of these 90 devotionals shows them how to fill their heads and their hearts with virtues taken straight from Philippians 4:8, helping girls grow closer to God and the amazing life he has intended for them.

Featuring a trendy color interior, a ribbon marker, and journaling lines for girls to write their thoughts, Whatever Is Lovely will inspire girls to read and reflect on the devotionals every single day.

My Thoughts:

Whatever is Lovely is another amazing resource for tweens and teens  from the Faithgirlz collection.

This is a hardback compact book. It’s around 8x5 in size. There is a pretty purple ribbon bookmark to keep your place.

This is a 90 day devotional journal that has 320 pages. The font is an average size in a pretty purple text.

Every devotional starts out with a scripture verse. Then a commentary on the scripture verse that is relevant to today’s kids. Each one of the devotion is around 3 pages long.

After, the commentary there is a “Food for Thought”, which gives you scenarios of a situation or some thought provoking highlight that may include a scripture or just something to chew on.

Followed by, “Second Thoughts” Is what I call a thought provoking paragraph that you can evaluate what is being said to you.  Then, a “Devine Thoughts”, is a prayer that you can pray.

Last, is where the journal comes into play and you can add your own thoughts to that day’s devotion.

Overall, this is a nice devotional for young girls. There are a few topics that some parents may be uncomfortable introducing your girl to. Or maybe it’s something you would rather participate while they are going through this devotional journal. It would be a good way to have an open conversation with your girl. Some topics are things like sex appeal, underage drinking, sexual immorality, smoking, makeup, weight, modesty, and a few other topics.

Let me clarify that the topics are done with lots of taste from a Biblical perspective with the way it is presented. The author Allia Zobel Nolan has done a wonderful job of approaching the topics and it’s very heartfelt.

Overall, I love this devotional and look forward to reading it with my 14 year old special needs daughter. I love having heartfelt conversations with her to direct her to grow up to be a Godly young lady.
