Pet Dad by Elanna Allen Book Review

Plum wants the perfect pet, but instead realizes she has the perfect dad in this charming and hilarious picture book that's great for father's day.

Plum wants a pet. Plum's dad wants NO pets. So Plum, who never takes no for an answer, gets the only pet she can: a pet dad. Dad is a great pet--he loves playtime, tummy rubs, and scratches behind the ears. But every time Plum tries to get him to sit, or fetch, or chase, dad barks NO. Plum doesn't take no for an answer. How will she train her perfect pet (without getting a time-out)?

Hilariously relatable and with ultra-cute art, Pet Dad is perfect for kids who love or want pets--or who already have the perfect parents to make up for it.

My Thoughts:

My kids would have many animals if they could. Having two cats and one dog is enough for me. Trust me I love animals as much as they do. 

The illustrations are fun and make the story come alive even more. So much details to explore on each page. I like that the illustrations aren’t super busy. My kids noticed that many of the animals are dressed like their humans. 

This is a cute book about a girl named Plum who wants a pet. Dad tells her, “no.” Plum decides to take matters into her own hands and tries to mold dad into her pet. She finds that isn’t as easy as she thought it would be. Dad won’t eat out of the dog bowl, use the newspaper to do his business, roll, or sit. Plum pushes it a bit too far trying to put dad in time out, and ends up in time out herself. In the end she finds the perfect word and action to melt dad’s heart.

This is fun story that will make you chuckle at the antics of the story. This would make a great Fathers Day gift.
