Look Mom What I Made You

Yummy, I came home from a dentist the other day ago and Bug made me a snack. I had made dinner for everyone and had to leave as soon as Daddy came home from work. Bug was concerned that I would be starving when I came home. She had told Daddy she was getting a snack for herself. She thought of me instead.
Are you hungry or have you lost your appetite.
"Mommy, I even made a plate for you." She had it ready in the refrigerator. Are you wondering what is in it. Bananas, milk, applesauce, club crackers, animal crackers, and sliced cheese. She made 2 with the mix on top of animal crackers for me.

Yuk, I didn't eat it. I thanked her for such a kind and loving gesture. I don't know if I was wrong to tell her not to just take food and mix it together like this. Of course she wanted me to try it. I told her that it was not something that is very pleasing to eat. She wasn't happy with me. I told her to taste it and tell me if she liked it. She did put it in her mouth and spit it out right away. I had to explain that making a meal is not just grabbing different types of food and mixing it in one bowl and seeing if it's edible.

I made her cry. I felt bad but, I aslo know that Bug will do it all the time if I don't put a stop to it right away. Sure enough at our congergation pot luck she combined all kinds of food and put in a styro foam cup and tryed to get everyone to eat some. She was heartbroken and didn't understand why no one would taste it. We had to have the same conversation again. I think she gets it now, maybe?

I am curious has how others would handle this situation. Bug is 8 1/2 but her mentality is that of a much younger child. I knew I had to tell her something. I can't help wondering if I could of done something differant. What would you have done?.

  1. Oooh...that's a tough situation. I would've eaten it though, and kept it down and faked it. I did the same thing when I was little, and remember making what I called a "peanut butter and jelly pie". Looking back now it had to be absolutely disgusting, but my mom tried it, swallowed, and said good job. When I went to school the next day she threw it out and said she ate it all.

I hope when the time comes I'll be able to do what she did, but don't you feel one bit bad about what you did, you were trying to teach her, and there's nothing wrong with that!

Great blog, I'm a new follower!
