I was excited to read this third book and final book in the Rose Trilogy. The Mercy is the last book in The Rose Trilogy from Beverly Lewis. As always, she draws you into the daily life, concerns, and family ties of an Amish family.
The Mercy tells the story of two sisters, Rose Ann and Hen. Hen's husband has been injured in a car accident, and she must take care of him during his temporary blindness. Brandon has filed for divorce, not wanting anything to do with Hens wanting to return to her roots. Hen is uncertain what her future holds with her Englisch husband and what will happen with her daughter.
Rose, who is single, takes care of their mother who is in constant pain from a buggy accident years earlier. She still has feelings for Nick Franco but is trying to move on. Her brother invites her and a friend over to dinner one night with his family. The girls meet twins, Isaac and Jake and start courting them.
Rose sticks to her convictions and measures all her choices by her oath taken during holy baptism. Rose waits on the Lord, when all seems lost, is rewarded for her faithfullness.
Nick Franco, the Bishop's rebel foster son who left the Amish under a lot of suspicion after his foster brother's death. His rebellion led to the "silencing" of their beloved Bishop.
Rose's lingering feelings for her wayward friend refuse to fade. Rose being faithful to her new beau refuses to give in to those feeling. Her new beau may have some secrets of his own that will leave Rose choosing what is more important-her convictions to serve the Lord in the Ordnung or being a maiden.
Rose Ann is very strong in her faith and devoted to her family and friends. Despite all of the emotional events going on. Through many ups and downs, the family draws closer to each other and to God. One thing I liked most was how clearly God's grace, mercy, and forgiveness came through in this story.
Beverly Lewis as always did an excellent job writing this book, I would recommend it to anyone that likes reading Amish novels.
This book has been provided to me my by Bethany House Publisher free of charge and in no way was I asked to give a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
