Insects Everywhere All Day

My daughter died and went to bug heaven for three whole days. Insect Spectacular is a yearly event in Kansas that the 4-H club puts on. This year it happened to be in our county. Usually it's a few hours away in the state. We took advantage of it being in town.

So for three days I dealt with 6 legged critters all day long and everywhere. Do you feel sorry for me yet!

They had educational classes with varying topics from Coleoptera (Beetles), making insect traps, games around insects, and much more. Bug even won second prize in an event with her bug knowledge. The most exciting event for Bug was the bug hunts. We didn't stay for the evening events or the night bug hunts. Which we caught plenty of insects to keep busy with.

Now we have lots of pinning to do and the county fair is right around the corner! Yikes! We got lots of work to do!

They also did insect photography, which surprisingly was the part I enjoyed the most. Your not walking in knee deep prairie grass with a backpack full of container, several nets, and sweat dripping into your eyes. Then afterwards search for any travels-like ticks.
Underneath the Bee you can see a white caterpillar.
I think this is a Bee Fly.
 Another dragon fly.
Bug was fascinated with this caterpillar.
Look closely and you will see this White Sphinx Moth.
 Milkweed Beetle.
 Lady Beetles
 Beautiful Swallowtail Butterfly.
Off hand I'm not sure what kind of butterfly this is.
Bug's favorite, Luna Moth. It is drying out it's wings as it just emerged that morning. It was easy to capture a picture of it. Luna Moth's only live a few days as they have not mouths. Their only purpose at this point is to reproduce other Luna Moths. They are lovely moths.
Bug snapped this one off and I have no idea what it is.

Bug enjoyed herself and I had fun watching her do her favorite thing. It was a long three days and I have more insects in the freezer than I care to admit too.
