Making Butter

This was something we did several months back and I forgot to post about it. This was very easy and a big hit with the kids.

1. You will need a jar. I would use plastic with the kids. I used a drinking container.
2. Two to three cups of sweet cream or heavy whipped cream.
3. Make sure the lid is screwed on tightly.
4. Have the children sit on the floor and take turns rolling the jar on their laps.
5. Small lumps will start to appear after several minutes and it will start to cling together in one large lump.
6. Pour off extra liquid and enjoy.

Suggestion to make the rolling quicker for the little ones is to put cream in a blender on low speed for around one minute to speed up the process.

Bug rolling the cream, she didn't want to take turns. She thought this was pretty neat.

Little Man kept wanting to open the lid after every roll on his lap.
My daycare girl Princess5 had a blast also.
Me showing them how to do it.
Little Man wanted to mix it more after it came out of the jar. He wasn't fond of the taste of it. Much to my surprise my picky Bug loved it and ate it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for several day. I thought it tasted pretty good too.
