I have not read the first book in this series but was still able to enjoy the second book and put the pieces together with ease. Marianna Sommer loves her life in Montana and she loves her new friends, both English and Amish. Marianna has a job with a caring Christian boss that she adores. Her boss is a good example of how a Christian should live for God.
Marianna’s life is about to get a little more confusing. Marianna’s Mem invites Aaron from Indiana for a visit. Without anyone else knowing about Aaron's visit. She fears her daughter’s relationship with Englischer Ben could lead to something other than friendship.
Aaron has always loved Marianna and wants to see if she still has feelings for him. Then a car accident leaves Aaron with a broken leg and unable to travel back home anytime soon. He has to spend 6 weeks staying in Marianna's home with her family. He hopes to win her back and take her back to Indiana to become his wife.
Marianna is grateful for her friendship with Ben, the Englischer who help her draw closer to God through His Word. She's is struggling with her feelings for Ben--the English man who introduced her to new found relationship with the Lord.
Will this lengthy visit win her heart back to Aaron or will Ben win Marianna‘s heart?
As Marianna begins helping those different from herself—and receiving their help—her heart contemplates two directions. She’s torn between the Amish man from Indiana whom she has long planned on marrying and the friendly Englischer who models a closer walk with God than she’s ever seen before.
Who should have Marianna’s heart? What is God asking her to sacrifice? Her traditions? Her community? The answer is found along the wooded paths.
I am anxiously looking forward to book three to see what happens in Marianna's life. Both Aaron and Ben are good God-fearing men and I didn't really have a favorite feeling which man I thought Marianne's should be with until the end - then I knew who I wanted to spend her life with.
I'm looking forward to reading the last book in this series to see if it will end the way I think it'll end or maybe book three will surprise me also. I love all the characters in this book. Marianne is very indecisive with her feeling and went back an forth more times than I would of liked in this book but overall it adds to the mystery in this book.
