Scripture Memory Verses in our Homeschool
January 26, 2012
So far this year the kids have remembered several verses for school this year. I am real proud of them. I have a hard time remembering verses word to word. We still have several more this year for them to remember.
I like to print the scripture verses out on card stock and then I laminate them. I punch a hole in the top and store them on a metal ring for easy review.
I want my children to hide God's word in their hearts. What better way then to start when they are young. As we get older it sure is harder to remember things. God always is gracious to me to help me recall His Word when needed. I am grateful for Him helping me. I want my kids to have His word so ingrained in their minds that it just flows out of them.
Here are the scriptures they have learned this year.
John 1:12

John 1:12
Common English Bible (CEB)
12 But those who did welcome him, those who believed in his name, he authorized to become God’s children,
Luke 12:34
34 Where your treasure is, there your heart will be too.
John 3:30
John 3:30
30 He must increase and I must decrease.
Colossians 3:20
Colossians 3:20
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, because this pleases the Lord.
Ephesians 4:32
Ephesians 4:32
32 Be kind, compassionate, and forgiving to each other, in the same way God forgave you in Christ.
John 3:16
Romans 6:23
Romans 5:8John 3:16
16 God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him won’t perish but will have eternal life.
Romans 6:23
23 The wages that sin pays are death, but God’s gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
8 But God shows his love for us, because while we were still sinners Christ died for us.
Our favorite is still the Shema: Deuteronomy 6:4-9
4 Israel, listen! Our God is the LORD! Only the LORD![a]
5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your being, and all your strength. 6 These words that I am commanding you today must always be on your minds. 7 Recite them to your children. Talk about them when you are sitting around your house and when you are out and about, when you are lying down and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them on your hand as a sign. They should be on your forehead as a symbol.[b] 9 Write them on your house’s door frames and on your city’s gates.
