I like to print them on card stock. I cut out and laminate my skip counting chart cards and punch a hole and attach them together with a metal ring.

I use the blank space for Bug to write in the answer and afterwards I can wipe off the answer after she is done. Don't you love laminated papers. I cover up the answer so she can't see it with another card. I love laminator's. It is a fun and easy way to practice her math facts.

A couple of years ago I came across a lapbook from one of Math U See's newsletter. I knew that it would benifit my daughter. It was a big help for Bug in learning her decimals. 

Now, it's Little Man's time to start on Decimals and he was really excited since it is Cars. Cars 2 is so fresh on his mind that made it that much better.

So to give honors where they are due you can look at "Daniel Academy" blog to see where I was able to make mine. I cannot tell you what a blessing this was for me in teaching place value.

Are you getting excited yet? I still am when I see this lapbook.

Here is the units and the tens place.

Next the hundreds place.

All of Decimal Street.

All you need is:

2- file folders

Black paper to make the street

Red poster board  paper (for handling all the folding) to make the castle and the car.

Green paper to make the units house and car.

Blue paper for the tens house and car.

White paper as a center piece on the cars

Yellow to divide the road.

Don't forget a ruler, scissors, and glue.

I would recommend to laminate it all- not just the cars. Our lapbook has been loved over the years and used heavily. The cars can be wiped off easily when laminated. I actually made two of each color of cars. Just in-case one drove away!

Cars sticker (really you could make your street anything that is your child's favorite.)

I used the Decimal Street copy included in the Math U See Primer as my pattern to make the houses and castle the correct size. As for the cars. Well, that was before I took a liking to blogging and all I can tell you is that I found it on some preschool site that has shapes. :0( sorry.

I store all the pieces in a small vanilla folder with the wipe off marker. That way I am not searching for a marker and I am ready to go.

My favorite part is Little Man in action.

Don't forget to let them play with the cars once they accomplish the problem. It's a built in reward after each problem. Of course, don't forget to put some kind of time limit on it if you want to accomplish anything else.

I laminated some of the cards in the pockets to make them last longer. I also like to put a ring around the cards so I am not picking them up all the time.

Bug still struggles with remembering her addition facts. She can figure out the problems she just can't remember them. This is why I put her Math U See Gamma on hold for awhile. We have been using this lapbook among other means to work on those math facts.

This is a post that I did back in 2009. I have put the Lapbook on my 4share for others to use. This is the first time I have put one of my lapbooks up. I do not have a cover page, Bug made her own picture. You may notice that some of the clipart is different. I wasn't sure of some of my sources and I didn't want to violate any copyright laws. Since then I have purchased a clipart program. I hope you enjoy. This has been one of my kids favorite lapbooks that we have done. This book we used with Sonlight, Intro to World History Core B or if you prefer the old name, Core 2. This will also be available on my Free Printable page.

We are loving the books this year with the Sonlight Introduction to World History. As soon as I seen the book Archaeologists dig for clues I knew I had to do a lapbook.

We did an excavation dig on paper. I made squares and in each square I had pictures of varies artifacts. Bug had to keep a record of each item on her clip board. First she had to label the square, count the items and then write a description of the artifacts on her clipboard. We did a lot of the things that they did in the book.

We talked about what is an archaeologist and what they do. For some crazy reason Bug thought this was the best part, what kind of things someone would find in our trash". Bug thought that part was neat and she had some interesting observation about our family. We counted items in our backpack and made sure we had all our supplies needed to go out in the field.

Some of the things that the book didn't talk about that I included:

What the bible says about the age of the earth.
What is the differences between an paleontologist and an Egyptologists.
Then we found out which president was an amateur archaeologist. Do you know? Hint-it was our third president.

We measured artifacts and added some famous archaeologist. I added some that had biblical discoveries. I had to include the discovery of Kings Tut's tomb. To me that is an amazing find!

We had fun with this book. In a few weeks we are going to dig in the dirt and unearth our own artifacts.

 This last week leading up to Pesach/ Passover we have been working on a Passover lapbook. I found this lapbook from Homeschool Share. I simplified it for my kids age. Honestly,  I really didn't have to change much. 

We also read different books on Passover the last few days. We also read Exodus, The Matzah Man A Passover Story by Naomi Howland and a few other fun Passover books.

We also did some great activities from this Blog, she has some great printable's on the Biblical Feast.

 This summer we have been learning about Ladybugs and have been observing the life cycle of the ladybugs with Ladybug land by Insect Lore. It has been so much fun watching them change. At this time our ladybugs are in the pupa stage. The kids can't wait to see them come out pale yellow and then turn to red! We also have a butterfly garden going, but that is for another post.

Bug and Little Man really enjoyed this lapbook. Bug informed me, "this is the best one yet!" Of course here is a little girl obsessed with ladybugs and any other type of bug that crawls or flies. 

Some parts of the lapbook are from Homeschool Shares and the other part of it is what I put together. I made it the lapbook work for what we where doing with ladybugs. It just worked better fr me piecing it together. 

We read the Grouchy Ladybug, which happens to be a favorite around here. This is where I used parts of The Grouchy Ladybug from Homeschool Shares. The life cycle sequencing cards is from Enchanted Learning.

The kids did a mini life cycle book from Enchanted Learning. Little Man worked on his ABC's and counting. Bug practiced the phonemes with the ABC cards and had fun just playing with the ladybug counters that Little Man used for counting. Bug worked more on telling time with, The Grouchy Ladybug. It was a fun way to practice what she has been learning with telling time. The mini book on time from Homeschool shares was an awesome addition to the lapbook.

Lately one of our favorite book that we found last summer at our local nature center is, "Starting life Ladybug" it has wonderful pictures and of course is full of information about Ladybugs.

For the lapbook I found some fun websites on Ladybugs. On one of the sites I was able to download ladybug fonts. It is really an adorable font, which I used in the lapbook. This site also had coloring pages, which we used one for our cover page. From there I followed the suggested links. The website is Everything Ladybugs. It was loaded with all kinds of information. I couldn't believe how many sites are dedicated to just ladybugs. I plan on looking at some of the crafts from the site at another time.

This year Bug did First Language Lessons as a lapbook. Here is our cover page.

Bug worked on remembering poems, definitions of nouns, pronouns and verbs. She practiced writing her name and all kinds of activities for language arts.

I got this mini All About me book from Enchanted Learning.

This portion we worked days of the week, months, her birthday, writing dates, seasons, sentence types, abbreviations, capitalizing and copy work.

Action verbs pocket holder for the cards.

Action verb cards. Bug had alot of fun with this part of the lapbook. She can name verbs in a sentence easily.

Bug practiced her pronouns and the correct sentence usage.

We learned about abbreviations of states, roads, learned about capitalizing states, titles of respect, writing her families full names, addresses, phone numbers and a few other things.

My stories-I wrote up some of her stories while she was telling me about them. Some of them she wrote herself.

This is our latest lapbook we have been working on. It's a mini-lapbook. This lapbook is from Handle on the Arts. It focus on just the pyramids. It is part of the activities for Hands on History Core 1 that has been created just for Sonlight Core 1. It has lots of different hands on activities that the kids are loving.

We are studying Egypt with the Sonlight curriculum Introduction to World History Core 1 and also in Mystery of History- Creation to the Resurrection. The kids are really enjoying learning about Egypt. Tomorrow we are going to the museum of World Treasures. They are excited to see some real things from Egypt. I have never been to the museum out here. I hope that they have lots of artifacts from Egypt.
