chapter and verse markers combine to create a distraction-free reading
experience you’ll want to return to again and again.
Features
include:
- The New King James Version, known for its literary beauty and trustworthy accuracy
- Single-column layout, designed for optimal readability
- Beautiful Thomas Nelson NKJV Typeface
- Two satin ribbon markers
- Classic slipcase for protection and display
I have reviewed a lot of Bibles and I have to say that this one has had the most unique layout that I’ve seen or used. It’s meant to be distraction free Bible for just reading. I will go into the details about the layout in a bit.
The Bible I received is a beautiful two tone leathersoft cover. The main color is a rich black with the outside corners and thread in a brown color. The center of the Bible has a lovely emblem stamped in the middle. The Bible looks very classy. The Bible comes with a gray slipcase. I love the slipcase that so many Bibles are coming in today. The slipcase is great for storing my Bible in and I like that it stands up while storing without getting bent up.
I really love the two satin bookmarks that I can mark my place as I like to read both in the Old Testament and New Testament every day. I love attached bookmarks that don’t fallout.
The paper feels like it may be bit thicker than the standard Bible paper. The edges are gold gilded. The Bible lays out flat on the table while you are reading it. The font is the NKJV with the Comfort Print typeface with a 10-point size.
The Bible does have the Books and page numbers listed in the front of the Bible. The layout is a single column and it’s not the single column that I consider unique. Its more the standard features in most Bibles’ aren’t there. It doesn’t have the bold chapter numbers as the chapter numbers are a smaller number in the margin. Each verse isn’t numbered and it numbers every 5th verse. The Bible doesn’t have book introductions but, rather it has quotes from famous authors like C.S. Lewis, A.W. Tozer, John MacArthur, and other well know authors. There are also no maps, weights and measures, no glossary, or word index. There are no references to other scriptures that pertain to that particular verse. Also no foot notes at all. It’s very minimalist on each and every page.
I love the idea of a minimalist ideal and some of the Bibles out there can be a bit distracting with all its footnotes, commentary, and devotionals in them. It’s not that I don’t like having a good study Bible as there is a time and a place for a study Bible. I think if I had to choose a Bible for reading without all the distractions I’d prefer a Bible that has the chapters and verses labeled. I like the scripture references in the footnotes are in the center margin so I can look up similar scripture. I also like the maps in the back of the Bible.
Don’t get me wrong this is an amazing Bible for just sitting down reading if you’re not concerned about the items I mentioned.
