The Weaver’s Daughter by Sarah E. Ladd Book Review

My Thoughts:

This is the first book that I have read from author Sarah E. Ladd. She captured my attention early on and I had to peak and see what other books she has written.

I love historical time period books. The year is in 1812 in Yorkshire, England. It’s during the time period when mills are becoming modern and the traditional handloom weavers are trying to survive the modern technology. This is the first book that I’ve read focusing around this issue and I found the story plot intriguing. 

There is a build up in the plot to weave all the components together. It read rather slowly at first but, the story was intriguing and grabbed my attention. A lot of stories are predictable. This story had a few elements that surprised me.

The character’s have a lot of depth to them. There are a lot of characters in this story. The author does a good job balancing them all and bringing the story together nicely. A lot of conflict in the village is brewing and makes for a mystery.

The main characters are Henry and Kate. Kate is a strong woman with a lot of character and spunk. 

Henry I really liked his character. He suffered a lot during the war. He is just a gentleman. He also sees things and people for himself and not what he has been told.

I’m not going to give away to much of the story. Overall, I found this book a good read and look forward in pursuing other books by Sarah E. Ladd in the future.
