Mind Games by Nancy Mehl Book Review

Kaely Quinn's talents as an FBI behavior analyst are impossible to ignore, no matter how unorthodox her methods. But when a reporter outs her as the daughter of an infamous serial killer, she's demoted to field agent and transferred to St. Louis.

When the same reporter who ruined her career claims to have received an anonymous poem predicting a string of murders, ending with Kaely's, the reporter's ulterior motives bring his claim into question. But when a body is found that fits the poem's predictions, the threat is undeniable, and the FBI sends Special Agent Noah Hunter to St. Louis.

Initially resentful of the assignment, Noah is surprised at how quickly his respect for Kaely grows, despite her oddities. But with a brazen serial killer who breaks all the normal patterns on the loose, Noah and Kaely are tested to their limits to catch the murderer before anyone else--including Kaely herself--is killed.

My Thoughts:

It seems like it has been awhile since I have read a book from author Nancy Mehl. I almost forgot how much I enjoy her books. I need to look up some of her other books to get my fill of suspense stories. Her stories are fantastic.

I was thrilled to dive into to one of her thriller suspense stories. Not many authors can weave together a Christian suspense novel that still shows Christian morals and faith and make it work. At the same time her books don’t come off as preachy. I think she has a good mix and her stories and characters feel realistic.

Nancy Mehl has created a suspenseful mystery.  It was a hard book to put down and kept me up late. I loved all the twist and turns and not knowing what to expect. The story was masterfully done!

I really enjoyed Kaely Quinn’s character as a FBI Behavioral Analyst. Kaely is a survivor as her father was a serial killer and some untraditional methods from her colleagues that work. Kaely is now the hunted with a serial killer with eyes on her. I thought Kaely’s character was complex and intriguing.

The other main character Noah Hunter was charming and I would have loved a bit more depth into his character. I hope that his character is dived into more in the other books in the series.

Mind Games is a wonderful story that is filled with a lot of suspense and danger.  I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
