The Smell of a Rainbow by Dawn Goldworm
A scented and
shaped board book with seven exclusive scents by one of the world's most
sought-after fragrance designers
Did you know that almost everyone associates the
same colors and feelings with certain smells? Dawn Goldworm has spent her
career studying just that. She is one of the world's best designers of
fragrance, and now she is bringing her expert nose to this scented board book.
Just rub your finger along each page, and enjoy the smell of color! Dawn has
created seven exclusive fragrances to evoke the stripes of the rainbow--a new,
fun, and surprising way to learn about the colors.
My Thoughts:
An adorable fragrant board book for ages 2-5. The book has different
page sizes that make the colorful rainbow pop out. The illustrations are fun and whimsical.
Each page has illustrations related to the color of the rainbow. The
illustration will represent the color. For orange, you have the smell of oranges.
Some pages have more than one smell. With smiley faces on the orange and
popsicle. Green is leaves, sour, and grassy. Red is sugary, spicy, and
berrylicious. The page next to it associates a feeling with the color. Blue
feels quiet and calm.
When I first took the book out of the package it was a bit
overwhelming with all the smells jumping out at once. After it sat for a little
you could distinguish the unique smell. You just rub your finger on the pages
to find lovely lavender, orange, lemon, pineapple, and other wonderful smells. It
takes me back to childhood of those smelly markers that you rubbed to get the
smell from. In this book, the smells are much more defined and you could pick
out the smell with your eyes closed.
A very cute book that little ones will have fun exploring
and smelling the pages.
