Inescapable by Nancy Mehl Book Review
July 21, 2012
This is the first in the Road to Kingdom Series. Lizzie Engel left her Mennonite hometown, Kingdom, Kansas at 18, with plans never to return.
Five years later, the new life she built is falling apart. Lizzie has a stalker and she's certain the same mysterious stranger is behind the threatening letters she's received. Lizzie is afraid for her 6 yr old daughter Charity’s safety.
To make things worst she has been falsely accused of embezzling money from her employer. Lizzie has no job and no way to support Charity and herself. She only has one place to go and that is back to her hometown and her parents.
Lizzie returns to Kingdom, Kansas unsure of how welcoming the town will be. Once she arrives in Kingdom, Lizzie is confident she'll be safe until she comes up with a new plan. She finds that the people in Kingdom aren’t has harsh as she thought back when she fled the town. In fact she realizes how much she misses the town and even the people.
She starts to reacquaint herself with old friends and her relationship with God again. Her earthly father hasn’t changed and is even harsher than when she left.
Just when she thought she was safe the mysterious strangers finds her. No longer sure who to trust and fearful for her life and the lives of those around her, Lizzie finds she has only one place left to run -- to the Father whose love is inescapable.

My thoughts:
Wow, I loved this book. It had lots of suspense, heart, and redemption all rolled into one book. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. This was the first time I have read any of Nancy Mehl’s books. I look forward to reading more of her books.
My only problem with this book was with Lizzie’s parents and their speech. It just seemed so unnatural. It drove me crazy. It felt like it just wasn’t normal and it made the parents seem unreal. I had a hard time when they entered in throughout the book. Other than that I could hardly put the book down! Thanks for a wonderful story that was different from other Christian authors out there. You can buy this book here.
Litfuse Publicity Group has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book. In no way was I asked to give a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
