Blogging Through the Alphabet-Letter K

 Letter K  is for Kadosh  

 קָדוֹשׁ

Kadosh is the Hebrew word for Holy.

This word can be used as a verb, noun, and an adjective. I’m going to focus on the adjective of  Kadosh (kah-DOHSH). Kadosh is an important adjective. The adjective kadosh is the word used to describe God. Kadosh basically means sacred, holy, and set apart.   He alone is perfect, and set apart. 

God is called “Ha-kadosh” - The Holy One. As Ha-kadosh, God is worthy of worship. He alone is perfect and holy.

Another word that is filled with meaning is Ruach Ha-Kodesh- (ROO-akh hak-KOH-desh) The Holy Spirit.

The Hebraic way of emphasis something is to use a word in repetition.  That is why you see Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh emphasized. 

קָדוֹשׁ קָדוֹשׁ קָדוֹשׁ ה' צְבָאוֹת מְלֹא כָל הָאָרֶץ כְּבוֹדוֹ

Kadosh Kadosh Kadosh Adonai Tz'vaot M'lo Khol Ha'aretz K'vodo

"Holy, Holy, Holy, The Lord of Hosts, The entire world is filled with His Glory."

   Isaiah 6:3

There are so many more meaningful words in Hebrew that have Kadosh in them.
