The Tiny Truths Illustrated Bible by Joanna Rivard, Tim Penner Review & Giveaway
March 16, 2019
With whimsical illustrations and engaging storytelling, The Tiny Truths Illustrated Bible presents all your favorite stories and diversely represented characters from the Old and New Testaments. It starts at the very beginning with the magnificence of creation and includes Moses parting the Red Sea, Jonah being swallowed by a giant fish, and ultimately the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus, the rescuing King.
Uniquely presented in a way that connects each individual story to the next, this book introduces children to the most important ideas and characters of the Bible while also making clear how everything fits together to tell one big story––the story of God’s love for his children.
Kids will want to return to these joyful, memorable stories again and again, building their understanding of God’s Word. And the practical lessons, reminders, and truths found throughout the stories make this an invaluable resource for parents and teachers.
The Tiny Truths Illustrated Bible will help your children discover:
Who God is––the one who made everything and everyone
Who we are––his children, whom he loves unconditionally
What we were made for––to love God and everyone else
Introduce your children to the incredible story of God’s enormous love for them with The Tiny Truths Illustrated Bible! This book’s bright and engaging cover has a unique feel and pops off the page with debossing.
My
Thoughts:
Finally
a kids story Bible that doesn’t have Jesus as a blonde hair, fair skin, and
blue eyes.
This
adorable Bible is perfect for toddlers and up. It has stories from the Old and
New Testament. There are 15 stories from the Old Testament and 18 stories from
the New Testament. I would say the stories in this story book Bible are your
typical ones that you find in small kids Bible. It is put in a story format
which I would expect for the age group. It doesn’t have chapters or verses within
the story.
I was a
bit disappointed that it doesn’t even mention the scripture address in any of
the stories. Not even an index that points your kids to the scripture address.
I feel that is important to have in a kids Bible personally. However it doesn’t
sway me away from the kids Bible. I’m not one to have my kids see a kids
storybook Bible as a main source of God’s Word.
The
illustrations are adorable and eye catching and will delight little ones. There
is a lot for you to explore on the pages throughout. It has full colored
illustrations throughout.
I expect
to see some paraphrasing in a kids Bible today. Overall most of it kept true to
the Bible. I think that the stories are retold in a way that overall keeps the integrity
of the Bible. There are a few that have some discrepancies.
I was a
bit disappointed that the title for Jesus birth is called; “The First Christmas”
was even brought up in the Bible. It wasn’t when he was born and I wish the
story of his birth wasn’t labeled that way instead of putting a holiday name to
it. I know most people call it the Christmas story. I just would rather not the story feel as it's main focus is Christmas.
Overall,
this is a nice Bible for little ones that will delight both parents and kids
alike.
