A Short Trip and Lots of Snow
February 03, 2014
We took a short trip to Denver this last week for a funeral. Our Pastor that we sat under since 1992-2004 passed away suddenly. My husband has had a chance to see him a couple of times since we left Colorado. I haven't been out there since Little Man was 6 months old. I was sad that I didn't get a chance to visit with him one last time. The good news is that this is not the end as I will see him again one day.
We hit some pretty harsh winter weather headed out there Thursday. The roads were icy and the visibility was horrible.
Before we hit the bad weather I was surprised at all the wind farms that popped up off of I-70. These things were monsters. They looked like they went on for miles. I've read about them and how lots of birds are getting killed by them. I can see why now!
The kids enjoyed playing outside in Great Grandpa's backyard. He lives by the foothills in Lakewood. He had lots of snow to entertain the kids.
I miss seeing how beautiful it looks after a storm. That's about it though. I don't miss driving in it or dealing with shoveling it. My Beloved did lots of shoveling at his grandfather's house.
I think she had fun and lasted outside for 30 minutes. Which for her is a long time. She felt it when she came inside. How many times do we get to make snow angels in that deep of snow here in Kansas.
My kids had fun on our trip. Bug was 16 months when we left Denver. Little Man has only been out to Denver twice before this time. He met our former Pastor when he went to Denver for a funeral 2 months ago for his Great Grandmother.
I will miss our dear friend and mentor. It was good to see so many friends and catch up with them. I don't know when we will head out that way again.

This is on both sides of the highway.

Little Man figured out he could ice skate on the patio.
Bug isn't always a fan of snow as her joints get stiff and sore. She was tested it out!I miss seeing how beautiful it looks after a storm. That's about it though. I don't miss driving in it or dealing with shoveling it. My Beloved did lots of shoveling at his grandfather's house.
