I Am Brave: Devotions, Questions, and Quizzes for Brave Girls Book Review & Giveaway
September 26, 2019
It's a tough time to be a tween. Body image struggles, peer pressure, social media, and confusion about what truth is and why it matters can make growing up harder than ever. How do you stand firm in what you believe? What does it mean to be brave in your faith? What does it look like to love others? Finding answers to the most challenging questions can help tween girls thrive as they grow into brave young women of God.
I Am Brave invites girls ages 8–12 to join the Brave Girls—Hope, Glory, Faith, Gracie, and Honor—as they grow closer to God every day. The latest book in the popular Brave Girls series, I Am Brave includes journaling prompts, devotions, and lots of great questions to help girls learn more about who God is and who they are.
The Brave Girls are ordinary girls who are stronger and more courageous because of God's love and guidance. I Am Brave will help your own young reader speak up for truth, stand up for faith and live out the real meaning of godly bravery.
My Thoughts:
I have been a fan of Brave Girls for several years. My daughter has also enjoyed them throughout the years.
The intended ages are 8 through 12 years old. Older girls may also like the activities and devotions in the book. The devotion starts out with an introduction of the 5 Brave Girls introducing them to the reader. The Brave Girls are Hope, Glory, Honor, Gracie, and Faith. I like that each girl is unique and has different personalities. Your Brave Girl may find one that they can identify with or maybe like my daughter can find traits in each of the Brave Girls that are like her.
There are 191 colorful pages. The pages are attractive with a color theme of pink, gray, and white. This is a hardback book with the same color theme. The book is small enough to put in a backpack or purse.
Each day devotions are on one page with a few exceptions as
some of the activities are two pages. It starts out with a topic and then followed
by a supporting scripture verse. The
devotions are short and encouraging. The majority of the pages have some sort
of activity to do.
There is a nice variety of activities from journaling,
crosswords, filling out the questions, and more. The questions are more
personal like asking about your spiritual life, relationships with God and
friends. Other activities ask things like what are the things you love to do or
write about something you did to help another person.
The devotions end with a Prayer Pointer that can be a challenge if they choose to accept what is being said. All of them are heartfelt.
I love the varied of the topics and the varied of the activities. This is just a wonderful devotion for girls. I felt the topics and devotions are very applicable for today’s world. It stresses seeking God in prayer, spending time with the Bible, obeying your parents, and being Godly Girls.
