National Pollinator Week

Pollinator Week is an annual event celebrated internationally.

Many of our native pollinators are struggling. You can help out by planting plants that are native to your area. Let the clover and the dandelions bloom! Yikes, having weeds in your nice green lawn. Find an area in your backyard and let them bloom. If your not that brave then plant the pollinator garden.

A pollinator garden is a great activity to do in your homeschool. Grab your insect field guide and identify the insects that visit your garden. You'll be amazed with all the tiny bees and tiny wasp that visit your garden.

Put out an insect house. You can purchase them or make one yourself. It might take a season to see the house get used. It's fun watching the natives move in.

Beekeeping is a great way to help out, did you know that honey bees are a small percentage of actual pollinators! Think ants, beetles, moths, butterflies, and even flies!

Enjoy your week. Go sit outside and just watch for awhile and see what you will discover.
