Cap IT! Get Ready To Read Hebrew

I have been given an amazing opportunity to review Cap IT! Get Ready to Read Hebrew Level 1. What is Cap iT!?

A simple, fun, and effective way to learn the Hebrew sounds! A program that is based on the latest research, develops Symbol Imagery and Phonemic Awareness, and instills a love for learning and self-esteem. It uses Tactile Visual Mnemonics™ -in other words it is a multi-sensory way to teach Hebrew using singing, a colorful workbook, and hands on learning. The Tactile Visual Mnemonics™ covers every Alef Bet and vowel sound you need to know to learn Hebrew. This is a wonderful way to learn Hebrew.

Get Ready to Read Hebrew fully prepares anyone-children and adults alike to Learn to Read Hebrew Level 2.

My Thoughts:
I love it when I can find a curriculum that is simple to use. It’s a program that I  like to call an, “open and go curriculum” in other words there is no preparing on my end. NO excuses on time restraints and preparation. Honestly you can take 10-15 minutes on each of the 48 lessons. Those 10-15 minutes your child will learn a lot.

You are not taught the names of the Alef Bet letters but only the sound. At first I wasn’t so sure what I thought about not learning the names of the letters. After doing it I really appreciate it as it doesn’t slow down the process of learning Hebrew efficiently. It makes learning to read faster and really the letter names can be taught later on.

How does the program work? Visual Mnemonics™ Each letter has sound that is associated with a picture.  For example, for the letter-Hey has a picture of a house. In which you will sing the tune with the h sound.
After you see and sing the sound you will then proceed to learning how to write the sound which aids in the ability to visualize the sound.
Next step is what Cap IT! Calls, “Power Cards” which is a study and review for the previous learned sounds that take 5 minutes daily.

Last step is rewards in the form of stickers. What kid doesn’t like stickers. The sticker also has the melody of the sound on them.

I like that you can be creative with Cap IT! program. I am not boxed into the curriculum. The curriculum let's me be in charge of teaching my child. Having a child with learning disabilities can be a challenge. It’s easy to add elements to fit your child’s needs. You can read my post on some ideas on how to add to Cap IT!. if you have a child with learning disabilities here. Just a reminder that you don’t need anything else other than the components in the box to make learning a success for anyone who wants to learn Hebrew.

  • Colorful and eye catching.
  • It’s easy to learn Hebrew.
  • It’s fun!

Cons:

I really don’t have many its more of options that I like to have available. Also a few coments I heard when showing others.

  • You can’t order the workbooks separately. What if my dog eats the workbook!(My dog doesn't like paper!) I like having an option to buy something from a kit separately because things happen.
  • Stickers can’t be bought separately either! I have two kids who love stickers.
  • Workbooks are for only one student. No copying the workbooks.
  • You don't learn the names of the letters.
All the cons are not essential in learning to read Hebrew. The company realizes that you may have more than one student to teach at home. They are okay if you have the child use a notebook or white board separately for writing the letters. They are going to need to write the letter more than what is provided in the workbook anyways.

The stickers can be used as a reward if you just keep the stickers intact. Tempting not to stick them somewhere!

Don't worry if you don't know the names of the letters. It's easy to pick up later.

Are you ready to teach your child to learn how to read Hebrew? Maybe you want to learn to read Hebrew yourself. Head over to Cap IT!   to begin an adventure of learning Hebrew.

I am very impressed with this curriculum. I highly recommend it! You won't be disappointed with the results.

Cap IT! has provided me with a complimentary kit. In no way was I asked to give a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
