NKJV The Vines Expository Bible Review
April 24, 2018
Pastor Jerry Vines leads you on a journey through
the Bible, with observations and understanding straight from a pastor's heart. Based on
sermons and lessons from Jerry’s lifetime of teaching ministry, this Bible
provides a unique, passage-by-passage guide through every book of Scripture and
explains how each part applies to your life.
There are a lot of different Bibles out there on the market; this particular one is an Expository Bible. This expository basically means to explain or describe something in more detail.
Pastor Jerry Vines who was the pastor at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL for almost 24 years was able to use his wealth of sermons and studies archives from every book of the Bible to create the expository studies within the pages of this Bible.
This is a burgundy cloth hard cover Bible with a dust jacket. The paper is your typical Bible paper with silver gilding edges. The font is an Easy-to-Read 10.5 type. The Bile also has two burgundy silk ribbon book marks in the Old and New Testament.
The pages are a double column layout. Each book has an introduction page that gives you the history, authorship, date of the book, and an outline and themes of the book.
The Bible has 205 “Presenting the Message” from Pastor Jerry Vine’s sermon archive, 148 “Living the Message” articles and illustrations for living the Christian life, 234 “Applying the Message” which are notes to help you put the scripture in relevant terms for you walk with your Lord and Savior.”Discerning the Meaning” word studies of key words in the scripture. All of the study helps are placed in places that relate to the topic and scripture.
Another feature in the back of the Bible is a “Topical Index”, “Concordance”, and full colored maps.
There are some interesting notes throughout the Bible that I felt were right on. I always like to remind people to read the Bible for yourself and see what God shows you within the pages of the Bible. I love all the study Bibles personally and feel that I have grown in many ways while researching the notes within the pages of a Bible. Sometimes you just need to ignore the notes and dig into the Bible for yourself.
This is a nice Bible and would make a nice addition to your library or a wonderful gift to someone.
