Week In Review-Week #33 & #34
May 04, 2012
I know I haven't posted much lately. We have been busy and sick. Mostly, mom has been dealing with some horrible sinus and cold issues. I am just grateful that it is the end of the school year and we are just finishing up a few things for the end of the year. I am feeling so exhausted these last few weeks.
Little Man has been spared the cold so far. Bug catches any sickness that comes her way and it tends to take her so long to get better.
Then our ballast went out in the classroom and we have no lighting. Which I know may not be a big deal for most people. It's difficult for Bug to do school other places. Even the kitchen table is difficult. Change is hard for her and she gets so distracted so easily. Our classroom is perfect for her as she can't see the outside. No bugs, birds, and dandelions to catch her attention. Yep, it's that hard. Not that an occasional bug doesn't make the wrong turn into the classroom. I won't go there today!
We are in Sonlight Core C week #33 & #34.
Scripture memory this week:
We reviewed all previous learned scriptures.
Scripture memory this week:
We reviewed all previous learned scriptures.
Bible
We are still doing "The Narrow Way" by the Parables.
Read-Out-Louds
I didn't start a new Read-Out-Loud this week per say. At least not a schedule one from our curriculum. We read many smaller books while we snuggled on the couch with mom feeling horrible. The snuggling made my heart smile.
For our poetry "Aesop's Fables" and "Poetry for Young People The Seasons"
Physical Education
Little Man has been playing cricket for PE. This week we missed PE as mom was still sick and didn't want to venture out the door.
Last week we finished up the kids swimming lessons.
Little Man having fun in the water. Looks like fun!
Bug struggles in the water and is very fearful. I realize that she may never swim good and I am okay with that. We have been taking lessons for years and she still struggles. She isn't strangling the poor instructors neck as much or screaming in her ears!:0)
She has realize she can touch the bottom of the pool with her feet. Which may be a bad thing because she thinks all pools of water are like that.(lakes) Kinda a scary thought for my little girl.
I want her to not be so fearful of the water. I want her to at least be able to keep her head above the water if needed for a few minutes until someone could rescue her if the worst does happen. I also want her to know how to be safe in the water and what not to do.
Therapy and Appointments
Bug had Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapy last week. This week mom was sick and slept most of the day while the kids got to play and watch a few more movies than normal.
Bug had Horse Therapy the last two weeks. This week she got to ride on Lollipop while using a real western saddle. She was very excited.
She had issues with keeping her posture straight and kept wanting to be a sack of potatoes on the horse. Usually that is not an issue she has on the horse. Her arthritis is so bad this week she is really hurting bad. My poor little girl has had a tough week.
Window on the World
I haven't done anything for the last two weeks in this area.
History & Geography
Little Man finished up his, "Beginning Geography book 3", this week. Bug completed her Lifepac on California an is now starting in the state of Texas.
We almost finished up our Kansas history study. Then our ballast broke in the classroom. We had one more page to do. At least it was the end of the day in school. The light went out yesterday.
As far as any other history I just choose to focus on the 3 R's and to finish up the odds and ends for the school year.
Language Arts, Math, and Misc Studies
We are plugging away to get everything done and to enjoy a little R&R. Which is much needed on mom's end.
We had a fun field trip at our local Botanica garden.
My favorite the rose gardens. I even got to spell the roses instead of the dandelions!
They built a children's garden this year. It was a lot of fun for the kids. Lots of hands on things to explore.
I want one of these benches in my back yard!
Painting the rocks. Which is just a paint brush and water. I had a hard time getting the kids out of here.
How can we not forget the flowers. No dandelions either!
Bug found all the snails-much to my dismay. Another thing to remember. AVOID THE ROCKS AT THE BOTANICIA! Add that to my avoid list with Bug.
How can we not forget the bugs! My Bug was amazed with this giant dragon fly and thinks it would look lovely in our yard!
Science
We are reading, "Dinosaur Unleashed" The kids wanted to watch the Jurassic Park series while mom was down this week. The kids had toy dinosaurs all over the house. Little Man and Bug must be enjoying all the dinosaur books.
Mom is still not 100% better and would prefer lying down on the sofa while the kids play. I have no idea when our light will get fixed. So I am just not going to worry about it. All the work will be there for another day. I may just catch up on some laundry and clean up a few neglected areas in the house. Then lay down and have a nap. Have a blessed day.
