Week in Review #4-2014-2015
September 13, 2014
We are in studying Biblical, Jewish, and Ancient Israel
history
Scripture Memory Verse:
We did do memory verses this week but, I am totally blank with which one! LOL it has been a busy week.
Bible
We have been in Matthew 5 and having some good discussion
on the chapter.
We also started:
A Child’s Bible Lessons from the Torah by Seymour Rossel
Artscroll a Childs Introduction to the Siddur.
The
Word-Wise Adventures of Yisrael and Meir Going Global Book One: The Thirty-one
Mitzvos
Read out Louds
We are reading, " Christian Heroes: Then & Now Lillian Trasher They Greatest wonder in Egypt by Janet & Geoff Benge
For Poetry we are reading, “To Be a Free People the Saga of Israel by Michael Bar-Zohar. This is a book of poems, songs, newspaper articles, and quotes from Israel.
Physical and Health Education
Little Man is still doing karate twice a week. Right now our weekly PE class is on hold.
Therapy and Appointments
All therapies were canceled this week due to Dr. appointments.
History and Geography
Due to all of our appointments and harvesting honey this
week we didn’t do anything in these subjects. I also watched a friend’s
children one day this week.
Language Arts and Math
Bug is doing well with the Christian Light language arts so far. The pace and amount is not overwhelming for her. We are also doing Junior Analytical Grammar which is going well with her.
Bug is loving her Reading Pathways. It has actually been
the first thing that she ask for when we start school.
Little Man has been doing Daily Language Lesson and is
working on several areas with this. I like these workbooks as they are just 4-5
problems that do a lot of different problems throughout the year. We have also
been doing IEW Fix It! Grammar which I will do a review on soon.
Math is doing well with both kids. I have to help them
both more this year while they are working on the problems. Little Man is
getting more challenged this year.
Science
We pressed some leaves into a press this week and talked about some of the basic structure of plants.
We found a some different leaves in our yard and identified them
Added them to the leaf press.
Bug found way to many leaves to fit into one are. She had a hard time deciding which leaves to press for her collection.
We worked on our science notebook.
We found some new caterpillar on our sunflowers. Of course they ended up inside in our butterfly garden. I have no idea what kind it is at this point. We haven't had a chance to research it either.
We learned a lot about force and motion this week while
extracting honey.
Hebrew, Art, and Misc...
Studies
Little Man is doing Hebrew at the
synagogue and working on vocabulary with Daddy. I will start in a few weeks
after I get settled into our new schedule.
Bug is working on her verses in
Hebrew for her upcoming Bat Mitzvah. She is now starting to sing it. We only
have 8 weeks left before her big day.
Art has not started at this time
also.
