Faith Builders Bible A TOS Crew Review
February 29, 2016
My 10 year old son eyes lit up when he opened
the Zonderkidz box and he seen the Faith Builders Bible that we received. Being
a bit Lego crazy he was super excited. He even knew this Bible was out there
and told me, “mom I have wanted this Bible since I heard about it!” I was
surprised that he even knew it existed.
Faith Builders Bible is a hardback Bible
with 1,144 pages. The Bible has 24 full colored illustrated brick designs of
varies Bible stories throughout the pages. Faith Builders Bible has the complete
Bible text from Genesis to Revelation. The Bible measures 5 ½ x 8 ½ in diameter.
It’s a nice size that will fit easily into carrying bags without being too
heavy. The Bible is intended for ages 6-10. Personally I think
kids a bit older will enjoy this Bible if they are Lego fans.
The version is the New International Reader’s
Version (NIrV). The NIrV is basically the NIV but, is written in a way that is
in a simpler form of English which is great for kids or even those who have a
harder time reading. The sentences are basically shorter than the NIV version
in most of the text.
John 3:16 reads:
“God so loved the world that He gave His
one and only Son. Anyone who believes in Him will not die but will have eternal
life”.
The Faith Builders Bible lays out flat when opened
and stays opened. The Bible is laid out in a two column style. This is strictly
just a Bible as it doesn’t have any study notes or footnotes within the pages.
There are a few Bible text quotes from other scriptures which are in
parenthesis next to the text. There are no maps included either, which not many
kids Bibles I have seen have maps. The headings of passages are in a bold text.
The font is a decent size for kids.
In the front of the Bible is a brightly
colored 2 page layout that has, “Building With Books of the Bible” This has all the books of the Bible grouped
by category of Law, History, Poetry, Major Prophets, Minor Prophets, Gospel,
Church History, Letters, and Prophecy all broken down on different bricks. They
have a neat idea of having the bricks labeled by the books and then they can
put them in the correct order to help memorize where the books belong.
The 24 colored illustrated pages are spread
throughout the Bible. Each one has a Building Block Verse which has a Lego design
creation that shows different stories throughout the Bible. Some are simple
creations while others are quite extravagant. It shows the address along with
the scripture fully written out with what the design is based off. There is a basic
one paragraph commentary or encouragement under the picture.
In the back of the Bible
there is a dictionary to help clarify the meanings. The scripture references to
where the words are found within the text.
Also, in the back is a section called, “Great
Bible Stories” which list the more known Bible stories and where within the
text they are located by the scripture verse.
How Did I use Faith Builders Bible in my
Homeschool?
Little Man which is 10 mostly used this
Bible. He did is morning and nightly reading with it. He also took it to
classes at services.
Little Man used Faith Builder Bible to do his
Bible curriculum. He has used this everyday and I suspect he will continue to
use it.
Of course he created some master pieces
within the Bible text and had a lot of fun when it was done during school
hours!
My Final Thoughts,
This is a nice Bible for kids. The layout
is nice and not too busy for young minds. I would love the font to be a bit
larger. This Bible will definitely get Lego loving kids intrigued into God’s
living Word.
