My Thoughts:

I’m real familiar with the Adventure Bible even though it has been many years. I used it with my kids and when my husband was the Pastor of the children’s ministry it was the only Bible we thought of to buy for two different churches. No second thoughts deciding which Bible to buy for the ministry.

I was delighted to see a new cover with its “polar exploration theme.”  It’s a shiny metallic looking blue which looks like the Northern Lights in the background with three polar bears surrounded by snow. There’s a few different themes out there of this Bible.

The NIV version is the version that I personally use but, it’s perfect for intended age which they say from 3 to 7. I personally think that this Bible would be sufficient for up to age 10.

This Bible is full colored and has illustrations. I think the illustrations are not overwhelming but, just enough to draw in most kids who like some pictures to explore and those pictures highlight important points within the scriptures.

The page numbers are easy to find. I found this very helpful when you are teaching a class of children and need them to turn to a certain portion in the Bible. Unfortunately not many kids can navigate through the Bible giving them a scripture address.

If you want the kids to learn how to find the books in the Bible there is an index page for each book of the Bible.

Each book of the Bible has an introduction page that gives you an overview of the book from who wrote the Bible, why was it written, what can you learn about God in this book, who are the key people in the book, when did it happen, and where did it happen. Also it highlights some more known stories in the particular book with the address.

Throughout the Bible you will see several colorful boxes to draw your attention to.

Words to Treasure-highlights scripture verses which makes a great resource for Bible memory scriptures for your lessons or to learn with your kiddos. These are usually key verses in that portion.

Did You Know-covers interesting fact found in your Bible to gain knowledge. For example what year did Jerusalem fall, or what was the job of the priest in the Bible?

Live It!-How does the Bible affect use today. Are they just stories that we can’t relate to? How can we Live It!

People in Bible Times-Have you ever read about someone briefly in the Bible and then come across them later and not quite sure who or how they fit into the story or why you have heard that name before? It highlights and gives you a bit more information on the not so well known people of the Bible. Some people that are mentioned are more known people too.

Life in Bible Times-I love teaching kids about the culture of the time of the Bible. One portion may talk about; “House Roofs” while another one covers “Fasting and Prayer.”

There may be full colored pages dedicated to certain scriptures or important things to know as a Believer. There are twenty of these throughout like the Ten Commandments(for kids), Lord’s Prayer, How to Pray, and ect...

In the back of the Bible:

There is a section for activities. It just briefly states the activity in a few words and then the page number. One activity has you make a name tag, or paint a coin. Nothing real detailed but small suggestion.

A table of Bible Book Abbreviations

There is also a Concordance and Dictionary

Full colored maps

I’m a huge fan of the  NIV Adventure Bible Polar Exploration Edition and glad to have an opportunity to look over the new theme. Most of all I’m delighted to see that this Bible is still around and still recommended in Christian Schools and churches. It’s still a great at home Bible for kids
