2019-2020 11th Grade Curriculum
October 25, 2019
We are in full swing in our current school year. I planned
on getting this posted in September. As you can see we are now at the end of
October. Life is so busy. School is busier with my daughter being in high school
and my son is in middle school. It’s hard to believe that I only have 5 years
left of homeschooling. I’ve been blessed to have had so many years with my kids
at home and teaching them each day. I can still see their smiling faces and the
excitement of their first day of preschool.
Bug 11th Grade
Even with all of her
special needs and her learning challenges I try to keep her as close to the
graduation requirements with our state as possible with a lot of adaptations. I keep grades
and I have kept a transcript since she was in 9th grade. We adapt due to her disabilities and learning challenges.
Subjects the kids do together:
Bible~ we do this together after we pray. Since the kids where young we start in Genesis and end in
Revelation and cycle back through. We adapt occasionally to look over topics in
the Word when I feel or the kids ask about something that needs to be addressed.
Both kids also read the Bible every night by themselves and
Dad reads with them daily.
On This Day in History: A Daily Spiritual Lessons
from American History by Dr. Paul E. Barkey~ This is a
historically-based devotional of American history. It is set up by date but, we
don’t use it by the date and read one devotion a day during the school year. This
will be used for two years. It has many stories about America’s early years as
witnessed by our nation’s citizens and presidents. We love the historical
accounts and a daily Scripture and prayer.
Read-out-loud~We do a read- out -loud together
during the week. The main reason I still do this is so my daughter gets to hear
stories above her reading ability. I have to admit that I love reading to my
kids! I love the discussions we have together.
Devotion and Scripture Memory I
encourage her to read one by herself each day.
Beloved 365 Devotions for Young Women by Lindsay
A. Franklin
Scripture Memory~ I
laminated a lot of scriptures when my kids where in elementary and she is still
working through it. She has a wealth of G-d’s Word written on her heart.
Language Arts~
Bob Jones Writing & Grammar 3- with
my daughter’s disability I have found that 4th grade with grammar is
her limit and some upper grades in specific topics with adaptations. I think I
have used every language arts curriculum in 3rd and 4th
grade!
Handwriting~
Hand Lettering & Calligraphy~I found
a beautiful set on Etsy that she has been working on. After many struggles in
handwriting with her I’m so glad that she is at this point to enjoy
handwriting.
Math~
Teaching Textbook 7
Supplements are CTC Math and Learn Math Fast Workbooks
History~
World History Year 4 level 1 from Pathway to
Liberty

Bob Jones Dissection Labs DVD

Memorization from Institute for Excellence in Writing
Dave Ramsey’s Foundation in Personal Finances for
Highschoolers DVD set only. This was the only area I went into not knowing if
she would comprehend the topics. At this point she understands it.
We use a lot of children’s books on checking accounts,
banks, credit cards, and other similar topics also.
Exploring Government from Notgrass
We are also using We Hold These Truths by Notgrass and
Our Constitution Rocks
Physical Education~ Equestrian through her weekly horse
therapy
Health and Nutrition~
Apologia Health and Nutrition~ This is our 2nd
year working through this text. We are going slow and steady with it.
Foreign Language~
American Sign Language I am using my experience when I went
to school to become an interpreter for the deaf and some videos to adapt her
learning style.
American Sign Language for Kids Beginning Level 1-Volume 1
& 2 from Language Tree

Reviews-I plan on continuing with The Homeschool Review Crew this coming year. We will have lots additional curriculum that may be included for the duration of the year or for only a few weeks.
We have a full schedule and this year I didn't over schedule like I usually do. May you have a blessed school year. Enjoy your kids while they are at home as the time goes by so fast.
