My Thoughts:
God and Science is a great
combination for a devotional for kids to enjoy and learn about our amazing
world. I was glad to see that Louie Giglio come out with another one, I was
really impressed by his Indescribable devotional. How Great is Our God follows
the same format as its predecessor.
This is a hardback book with 100 devotions within this 207 page book. The
illustrations are full colored with photos and cartoonish illustrations
throughout the book. There is a
presentation page and a table of contents at the being of the book. A ribbon bookmark is also part of this devotional.
This is geared towards kids 6-10 year olds. I love that this devotional
will appeal to both boys and girls alike. When my kids where younger I found
that I could easily find my daughter good quality devotionals but not my sons.
Each of the devotionals is covered on a two- page spread. The devotions are
centered on different scientific subjects. There are several topics that will surely
appeal to young minds from animals, blinking eyes, stars, weather, and so much
more.
To give
you an idea of what one of the topics looks like I will tell you about one of
them. One of the devotion is: “Typhoons,
Hurricanes, and Cyclones…Oh My!” It starts out with a scripture. This particular
devotion is Isaiah 43:1. It goes on to explain that location changes the names
of the storm and why. It gives you some information and end with talking about
how God and even thought the storms are powerful they are nothing compared to
God. It has a few more scripture that has partial information. It ends in a
prayer.
Each devotional
has a “How Great” box that gives you some intriguing facts cyclones.
All the topics are mixed up throughout the devotional. You can use the
devotional going by days or you can focus on certain topic by skipping around.
There is a reference page that covers the four major topics. The four major
topics are Space, Earth, Animals, and People. This is a neat reference as a
homeschool mom I could add the devotionals as we are studying these topics in
school.
