They Call Me Mom by Michelle Adams & Bethany Jett Book Review

When women take on the role of mom, they take on a hundred other titles as well: healer, comforter, chef, teacher, cheerleader--and less flattering jobs such as disciplinarian, ruiner of fun times, and chief worrier. In the middle of juggling all those roles, finding room to spend time alone seeking God can seem insurmountable.

Moms Michelle Medlock Adams and Bethany Jett understand the struggles--and the joys. They've pulled together their own experiences with the crazy world of parenting as well as the most requested, most talked about topics on mommy blogs. Their research nailed down what moms really want to talk about.

They Call Me Mom is a lighthearted, transparent take on the real-life ups and downs mothers face through all stages of parenting. Whether mom just brought home her first baby or she has several kids and zero time, she'll find relatable words and helpful encouragement in these pages. And with one devotion for every week of the year, it's easy to fit in a few minutes with God in the middle of a full parenting life.

My Thoughts:

Being a mom is the best thing in life. It also is one of the hardest responsibilities I have taken on.  I don’t know about you but I could use some encouraging words now and then.  My kids make me smile, laugh, cry, sad, happy, and want to pull out my hair at times.

They Call Me Mom has 52 distinct devotions to read once a week. This is a very easy to read devotional that will make you laugh and smile.  The stories are very relatable to moms everywhere.

Each of the devotions starts out with a story, all of them heartfelt experiences. Some are the kids telling you they want to move out, or about not having a salad bowl, pray-er, and other stories that happen as mamas. The stories are told from both authors. Michelle’s is “Michelle’s Intel” and Bethany’s is “Bethany’s JETTliner. Afterwards they all have encouraging words in a section, “God called me…….” based off the stories. Then what I call an action section. It could be making something, journaling, or even reflecting. The stories reflect kids of all ages. Not all of them are bad situations where a kid is being ugly. Some of them are the kids doing something amazing and even teaching us mom’s a thing or two with what is really important as a mom.

The hardest part is probably going to be reading it once a week. You may find yourself reading a couple at a time.

A lovely devotion to encourage mom and make you feel like, “hey, I’m not alone in this journey and other mom’s face the same situations with there kids.
