The RANK GAME from Storyastic Review & Giveaway
November 26, 2019
The
RANK GAME from Storyastic is a brand new party game that is all about you and
the people you are playing the game with. The RANK GAME from Storyastic would
be a great addition to family game night or just for fun with friends. My
family loves board games and get pretty excited with new games.
The
RANK GAME players have to guess the other players ranking and earns points to
win the game. The players have to guess how well they know one another. You
have to guess the Ranker’s preferred order from the card. Every correct guess
you earn a point and the player or team with the most points after 10 rounds
wins. The game play is approximately 30 minutes of play time. The base game has
three categories: Everyday Life, Adulting, and Leisure Time. Each category is
color coded.
I
received a prototype game with a sample of several cards and played a few mini
games with my kids. My kids loved it and can wait to play the full version.
The
game in full will have 150 cards, deluxe wooden bi-directional card stand,
double-sided cards for easy viewing, and 2 score pads with 162 score sheets.
There
are also going to be Expansion Packs to add on to the game. The game box is
also built to hold 11 Expansion Packs. I like that idea of them being able to
fit in the main box. We have lots of games with Expansion Packs in different boxes
and it is a pain. The Expansion Packs with have 50 topic cards, plus 4 bonus
cards. If you have the base game and all 11 of the Expansion Packs you will
have 744 unique topic cards. That makes for not coming across the same card
over and over. Some of the topic cards are easy and others are more difficult.
The
cards mostly have four choices. Some examples are: Season: fall, spring,
summer, winter. Ice Cream: chocolate, chocolate mint, strawberry, vanilla.
Airplane Seat: aisle, center, window, stand. Weekend Away: B&B, hotel, resort,
tent. Thank You Reply: you’re welcome, my pleasure, no problem, [silent nod]
are just a few examples
I
love that you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to start
playing. You can play within seconds after opening up the box. My kind of game!
With the game you will have four different game modes depending on how many
people are playing.
Ice
Breaker (2+ people) “Get to know each other” Draw a card. Everyone shares their RANK.
No scoring and everyone wins.
Spotlight
(3+ people) “Does everyone know each other?” Take turns being the RANKER. Everyone
guesses the RANKERS order. Everyone get acquainted, but those who guess right win
the game and more friends.
Teams
of Two (4+ people) “Do you really know each other” Pair up, players on
each team alternate being the RANKER and the Guesser. Gameplay shows how much
each teammates know about (or learn) about one another.
Two
Teams (6+ people) “Divide, confide, Decide, Collide” Split players in two
big teams. Each team has a RANKER. Their teammates powwow to guess their RANK.
Rotate the RANKERS. This game mode is for big basher or family feast.
As
you can see that the game is very versatile for any size of a group.
