My Thoughts:

Lisa Harris is one of my favorite Christian suspense authors. Her Nikki Boyd series has been one of my favorites and I’m glad to see some new books from this author. She knows how to grab your attention and keep you reading late into the night.

I love books that have interesting and realistic characters. They are all complex and not just the main characters. The plot and location in this story to make this an interesting story.

Aubrey Grayson has finally been promoted to detective. She is on a short vacation in South Texas with her surrogate father Senator Grant Mckenna when he is shot. Aubrey peruses the shooter but finds herself kidnapped.

Agent Jack Shannon is called in to help in the shooting & kidnapping case and while on a boat chase to rescue Aubrey which she has overpowered her kidnapper as they arrive at the scene. The case doesn’t end there and the plot and danger goes much deeper that the surface. Jack finds that the current case he is working on has a connection to Aubrey.

There is a bit of a romance that starts to brew between Jack and Aubrey but, it takes a back seat to the story and doesn’t take away from the suspense. Like all of Lisa Harris books there is a very realistic Christian view that doesn’t overtake the story but is part of the characters moral character. The story has a good balance of faith, suspense, and romance.

A lot of investigation in the story that tends to slow the story down some but it still is very intriguing.
