To The Moon and Back for You Book Review by Emilia Bechrakis Serhant

For any parent who has struggled on their journey to have a baby, Million Dollar Listing star Emilia Bechrakis Serhant's debut picture book poignantly explores her own difficulty conceiving and her life-changing experiences with IVF.

I swam through the deepest ocean.
I climbed the tallest mountain.
Finding you was a journey.
And meeting you was my greatest joy.

In this picture book, illustrated by the #1 New York Times bestselling artist of A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo, families of different shapes, colors, and sizes must cross deserts, navigate rough seasons, and climb mountains--all to find their miracle babies. Emilia's story reminds us that, despite the challenges and complications often thrown our way, hope will always prevail. To the Moon and Back for You combines a timeless feel with a timely subject, and is poised to become a modern classic for years to come.

My Thoughts:

I never did IVF but I didn’t have a child until adoption after 16 years of marriage and the next child was a miracle and a surprise pregnancy.

This book has beautiful whimsical illustrations throughout. The book conveys the mother’s broken heart longing for a child but the road was hard and long. She went to the moon, roughest seas, climbed the tallest mountain, hottest dessert, braved the coldest tundra, and strongest winds. She says the hurt didn’t stop her to get her child even though there were many failures and she needed help. Her love and how bad she wanted a child even though she couldn’t reach you she never gave up. The book doesn’t mention anything about IVF but the book conveys to the child how bad she wanted a child and what a great joy having the child.

I can relate to the author but I don’t see it relating the message to many kids other than beautiful illustrations and far away adventures and the mom’s love. I almost feel that the book would speak more volumes to the mother about her journey but the child will get the message in this sweet book expressing the mother’s ultimate love.
