The Escape by Lisa Harris Book Review
US
Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are thrust into a high-profile case when
they are called on to transport two prisoners across the country on a private
plane. But when the plane experiences engine trouble en route from the Pacific
Northwest to Colorado, the pilots crash-land the aircraft deep in the heart of
the sprawling Salmon-Challis National Forest.
When Madison and Jonas regain consciousness, they find both
pilots and one prisoner dead--and one fugitive on the run. They'll have to
negotiate the rugged and remote backcountry through Idaho, Wyoming, and
Colorado while tracking a murderer who is desperate to disappear--and will do
anything to stop them.
This high-octane game of cat-and-mouse from bestselling and
award-winning author Lisa Harris will have your heart pumping as you try to
catch a fugitive with nothing to lose.
My Thoughts:
Lisa Harris is one of my favorite Christian suspense
authors. Her Nikki Boyd series has been one of my many favorites of her books. I’m
always excited to see new series from Lisa Harris. She knows how to grab your
attention and keep you reading late into the night with all the twist turns
throughout.
Madison and Jonas the US Marshals trying to apprehend a
fugitive on the run . Both of them are interesting and realistic characters.
You can’t help to not like them and find yourself quickly fond of both of them.
They both have a complex past that you find out more as the plot thickens. The
story does turn into a romance but it’s a slow realistic relationship that
forms. The other main character Damon Barrick and he is the fugitive on the run
after the plane crashes while they are transporting two prisoners. Damon is a
charmer, intelligent, and knows how to improvise while on the run keeping
himself just ahead of the US Marshals.
The plot and locations in this story are intriguing. They
are on the go throughout the wilderness and into big cities on the tail of
Damon. It makes for a lot of suspense throughout.
There is an interesting back story that emerges. Ever since
the death of Madison’s husband 5 years ago she receives a black rose on the
grave but this year the black rose is found in her house on her bed. This mystery
starts to unfold throughout the main plot but not solved. Hopefully it will
come to light in the next book in the series.
Another wonderful book from Lisa Harris and now the hard
part is waiting for the next book in the series.
