NIV Verse Mapping Bible Review and a Giveaway

Verse mapping means getting real about studying the Bible. More than simply reading a verse or Scripture passage, verse mapping means using Bible study tools to research what you’ve just read in the Bible—to learn more about what God is saying to you and how you can apply his Word to your life today.

In the NIV Verse Mapping Bible, author Kristy Cambron expands her verse mapping curriculum series to include verses from the entire Bible, showing you how to compare Bible translations, pick out meaningful words, and delve into the true meaning of each verse using starter verse maps and prompts. Verse mapping will help you study the historical context, transliteration, translation, connotation, and theological framework of a verse. This unique study technique includes exploring Hebrew and Greek word studies, finding connections in Scripture, comparing Bible translations, and learning as much as you can from your time in God’s Word.

My Thoughts:

NIV Verse Mapping Bible can be used as a study tool as you map out God’s word. This is a full Bible. An interesting Bible that helps you dig into the Word using varying methods that are built in this Bible.

The Bible comes in different covers. You can get in a variety of Leather Soft designs or a cloth over board too. The one I have is the gray cloth over board. A ribbon book marker is also included.

The pages inside have a design and color that is settle on the edges of the Bible. It’s very pretty with the color scheme.

There are no maps in the Bible. Also, no commentary included in the footnotes or cross reference scriptures. The words of Jesus aren’t in red. There is a Topical Index in the back of the Bible.

This is an 8-point print in the NIV Comfort Print® typeface. I would love to see a larger print available personally. The pages are pretty standard for Bible pages that will bleed through with markers and pens. I recommend you use those that are made for highlighting and writing in the Bible.

There is a nice lined margin on each page of the Bible. I really like this features in the Bibles.  Another feature I appreciate is that the Bible lays flat when it is open.

There are two versions an adult version and one that is intended for 8-12 year olds with covers that will appeal to that age group. You can also purchase a Verse Mapping  Journal to go with this.

Each book starts out with and introduction page giving you typical information like the author, date written, background of the book, themes, and a brief introduction.

What makes this unique is the Verse Mapping sections. There are over 70+ throughout the Bible. It is set up in 5 steps. There are several in each book of the Bible.

Step 1: Verse- Some sections have a scripture verse and other areas you choose a verse and write it out in the first box.

Step 2: Design- Several Bible translations are used in this section. You will take your verse and write down 2 or 3 Bible translations in this box. You underline key phrases or words that are the same of different that are repeated in the different translation.

Step 3: Develop- What are the Hebrew and Greek meaning for the words you highlighted. Information is given at the front of the Bible to find the Hebrew and Greek meanings.

Step 4: Actions- Look at the verse and the story as it develops, what is happening and going on in this scripture verse? Who does it involve?

Step 5: Outcome- this is the part that speaks to you. You choose the verse for a reason most likely. What is God saying to you in this scripture? How can you apply and take away from it to grow in it and apply it to your life today?

I think this is a great tool to teach someone to dig into the Word. I really like that it gets you searching for scriptures yourself that grab your attention. At the same time there are scriptures on some of the Verse Mapping sections already picked out for you to dig into. I don’t think it’s my style but, it’s more of a preference thing to how I have been doing it for some 30+ years when I study the Bible. I guess what I do really works for me. Nothing wrong with it and would have been very helpful in my younger days when studying the Word. I honestly thing this is a terrific Bible and love that it is different from any Bible that I have encountered out there.
