Network of Deceit by Tom Threadgill Book Review
Rescuing
50 kidnapped kids earned Amara Alvarez the transfer she sought---to San
Antonio's homicide division. But her first case plunges her into the world of
computer hackers, and her personal life is under attack as she's cyber-stalked
by the killer. Can she utilize unconventional methods to solve the crime, or
will she become a cold case?
My Thoughts:
This is the 2nd book in the series. Even thought
I didn’t read the first book, Collision
of Lies the book can be read as a standalone. There are a few references
that are from the first book. It didn’t take away from this book.
This
is also the first book that I have read by author Tom Threadgill. I liked that
the book wasn’t full of fluff and the case was very realistic. This is
something that can really happen in our technological world with ransom ware.
The
characters are well developed and likable. They had real emotions and strong
characters despite the event going on in the case and personal issues. I really
liked Alvarez’s character.
The
book kept me in suspense for most of the book trying to figure out who did it.
It wasn’t till a few clues came together that I figured it out towards the end
of the book. At some points the story dragged along building up the plot. It
wasn’t too bad that I wanted to put the book down. The story was interesting
and keep be intrigued to the end.
I look forward to more books from Tom Threadgill in the
future.
