Who Are You Following? Book & Guided Journal Review

If influencers have power over us, who are you allowing to influence you?

In an online world obsessed with follows and likes, it’s important to consider what you’re really searching for. When you follow someone, it’s typically because you want to be like them or live like they do–but who have you placed as your role models?

In Who Are You Following? bestselling author and social media personality Sadie Robertson Huff dives deep into exploring who we are allowing to influence our daily thoughts and actions. With an excellent grasp of scriptural truths, using current research, surveys, and personal and biblical stories, Sadie draws on her own experience as a social media influencer and addresses topics such as

·         how to go from being liked to being truly loved

·         our true motives for fame

·         being seen from the outside versus being known

·         comparing ourselves to others

·         questioning why did I post that?!

·         how to respond to cancel culture

·         wondering does God still love me?

This book is perfect for young Christians wondering how they can live a vibrant, bold, and uncompromising life of faith in God by following the Messiah–the ultimate influencer. Discover the love, purpose, and fulfillment that is found only in Jesus.

My Thoughts:

As a Believer in Jesus, He should be the one that influences us the most. In today’s crazy social media world it can be intimidating as you see other people's worlds on display for everyone to see. They always look perfect, have beautiful homes, wonderful meals, and in my case, their homeschool looks like it is flawless and has great scholars. Then I look and see that they have a lot of followers and likes! We and our children are drenched in the reality of social media. @legitsadierob @liveoriginal

This book was very easy to read and heart felt. It has you look into the reality check of who is really influencing you? What are we seeking? This book is a must-read for young generations who are getting into social media. I thought it had a lot of heartfelt wisdom to guide you in the confusing messages on social media. Most importantly it reminds you of your relationship with Jesus. Who has the most influence in our life? Our action and responsibility on social media is something we need to take into consideration. We need to do a heart check when you are on social media. Why are you posting what you post?

There is a lot of scripture references throughout the book. I also appreciated the statistics and the effects of social media and how it can affect our mental health like increased anxiety and insecurities. As someone who does reviews on social media, I struggle with trying to get likes and get a bit bummed when my likes are low. I want to support the products I receive.

The Guided Journal is a must-have companion for this book. It has a lot of space to write in and guides you into some tough questions.

This set would be a great asset to a youth group and as a parent to guide and direct your children into social media. You may keep them off of social media but the reality is one day they will grow up and explore social media themselves. Why not guide them while they are young through the trenches of social media.

I highly recommend both books. You can purchase a copy- https://liveoriginal.com/
