Grace Given By Beth Shriver Book Review
December 29, 2013
In Book two of the Touch of Grace Series, Elsie Yoder
can't forgive her sister for leaving the Amish community with the young
man she was smitten with, and forcing her to deal with the locals alone
who threaten them to leave. Can she work through her bitterness and
humble herself enough to give and receive the grace she needs?
My Thoughts:
This is the second book in the Grace Trilogy Series. I didn't read the first book in this series. I was able to read this without knowledge of the first book. Howeve,r I look forward to reading the first book in the Touch of Grace at a later time.
I enjoy Beth Shriver's books as she has a different writing style compared to other Amish authors.
Elsie Yoder was an interesting character that you can relate with. She struggled with fear of the harassment from a group of teenager boys. The betrayal of an Amish boy that she had feelings for. Anger and hurt from her sister Katie who left without no warning with the boy she had feelings for. You see her relationship and faith grow during all the trails she endures.
As Elsie struggles with all these emotions she finds solace in studying from the Martyrs Mirror with Gideon Lapp. In which she finds an unlikely companion and a budding relationship.
I enjoyed Grace Given and recommend it if you enjoy Amish Fiction.
