Happy Kids Songs TOS Crew Review
August 19, 2014
Parenting can be hard at times and our delightful children are not
always so delightful. As parents we invest our whole heart and a lot of
time to raise our children to use their manners, to have pleasant attitudes,
and how to react in certain situations that arise in their lives. Sometimes
teaching kids this life skill is not always fun. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a
resource to teach them in a manner that is fun for both the kids and the
parents? Have you heard of Happy Kids Songs? I was delighted to
have an opportunity to review three song sets that I downloaded: Friends & Sharing,(Set 1) Happiness & Attitude (Set 5) and Manners & Character (Set 6) and the
physical book of Happy Kids Songs Workbook: Hands-on Activities to Build
Character, Social & Emotional Skills.
This is geared for children 3-8, and slightly older children may
likely enjoy it also. The Happy Kids Songs Workbook: Hands-on
Activities to Build Character, Social & Emotional Skills cost $12.56.
Happy Kids Songs are available to
download on MP3 or iTunes each set is $4.95. You can burn the songs on CD or listen to them on
your computer or tablet. There are actually 8 sets of songs. I am only
reviewing 3 sets. Each set contains 5 songs on each theme.
The songs are very upbeat and make you want to stand up and
move around. It does have a few slower songs and they are also very
entertaining. The music is very well thought out and very appropriate for each
theme. The songs are not just one genre as each song is different to suit every
ones favorite music style. The lyrics are simple and easy to learn. Kids will be able to
follow along with the songs easily.
The songs are meant to encourage good character traits, manners,
and emotions. All those life skills that children need to be taught that aren’t
always easy for them to deal with.
Friends
& Sharing (Set 1) songs are $4.95 to download all 5 songs .
The songs titles and themes include:
Sailing on the Seven Cs- teaches the ingredients needed for
friendship.
Everybody Wants to Find a Friend- helping to make friends by
reaching out to others.
Sharing Friends- how can you include others in your play.
Happy as Happy Can Be- how to be happy with a friend.
Together-Sharing and saying goodbye.
Happiness
& Attitude (Set 5) songs are $4.95 to download 5 songs.
The songs titles and themes include:
Shake It Out and Dance-helping you change from I can’t too I can.
Who Knows What’s a Kudo?-Compliments and how to give them.
I Don’t Understand- Handling the hard things we can’t do.
Be Good to Yourself- How to make yourself happy.
Better Together- how to handle being apart after we have been
together.
Manners
& Character (Set 6) songs are $4.95 to download all 5 songs.
The songs titles and themes include:
H-O-N-E-S-T-Y- the value of being honest.
The Magic Word-using and learning our manners.
Quirks- We all have quirks and need to appreciate the differences.
The Golden Rule- how to be considerate to others.
Six Little Kids- Honoring others and how they see things different
from us.
Happy Kids Songs Workbook: Hands-on
Activities to Build Character,Social & Emotional Skills is a 125 page
paperback book. The Happy Kids Songs Workbook is broken up in two sections. The first part
is for the lyrics and activities for all the song sets with a total of 40 in
all. Each area has corresponding activities to go along with the theme and a
coloring page. Lots of activities in this workbook everything from coloring pages, word scrambles, and so many different
things to choose from. The second part has lots of suggestions for activities
to go along with different themes. Most of the activities are easy to assemble
with items you can find around your house.
The nice thing with the Happy
Kids Songs Workbook: Hands-on Activities to Build Character, Social &
Emotional Skills has a wonderful copyright that you can make copies for all
of you kiddos. I want to honor God and respect those copyright laws and I am
grateful to have permission to make copies when it is granted. They even allow
you to make copies for a co-op or other functions.
How did I use this?
I did this with my 8 year old son and my 11 year old daughter who
has a lot of disabilities and not to mention a whole lot of behavioral issues.
We listened to Happy Kids Songs at home while doing
one of the many art activities found in the Happy
Kids Songs Workbook: Hands-on Activities to Build Character, Social &
Emotional Skills . We did this several times a week. Sometimes I
just put the music on while the kids where playing in the house.
Both of my kids enjoy coloring and doing crafts so they really
enjoyed the workbook.
The songs are a mixed bag with what they liked. Bug my 11 year old
loved all the songs and would try to sing them. She even danced and pretended
she was playing the instruments at times.
My 8 year old son liked a few of them but he felt they are a
little too young for him. However, I did catch him a few times singing along to
the songs. He would of course deny it whole heartily.
I like that the workbook is a variety of activities. I am glad
that the lyrics are included in the workbook. I would highly recommend that you
invest in the Happy Kids Songs Workbook: Hands-on Activities to Build Character, Social & Emotional Skills
as it really made the program complete with the songs. This is a complete
program that is really creative in teaching your kids good character, manners,
social and emotional skills, responsibility, and respect.
I am very satisfied with the quality of the songs and workbooks. I
don't know if I have a favorite song or one specific area that I liked the
most. I just really enjoyed using this with my kids. It has been a fun program
for my family.
This isn't a biblical based program and I am okay with that as you can easily incorporate it into one as many of the themes are based within the pages of the Word. It would compliment any biblical character training program on the market if you wanted to add it into a current program.

My only complaint is that I would love to have an option to buy
the songs on a CD rather than mess with downloads as it’s just more convenient
for me. It would even be nice to buy all 8 sets on one CD or the workbook and all the songs as a set option.
You can decide for yourself if this is a good fit for your family
by listening to the free samples.
