Hello Yellow Classroom Friendly Supplies
October 04, 2016
Hello
Yellow, hello sunshine. Classroom Friendly Supplies has added another color to
their rainbow of color pencil sharpeners. I received one pencil sharpener in Hello Yellow ($24.99)
for the purpose of this review.
Classroom
Friendly Supplies is a company created by an elementary teacher, Troy who was
fed up with pencil sharpeners. I am so glad to hear that I am not the only
person who takes their pencil sharpeners seriously!
What makes
this a unique pencil sharpener?
*It’s a
quite sharpener.
*It has an
unique automatic stop to prevent over sharpening.
*Works on
standard size pencils and colored pencils.
*It can be
mounted (clamp included) or portable for ease of use.
*It’s
extremely easy to use for all ages.
*5 Colors
to choose from.
*Easy to
remove clear plastic tray for cleaning.
*Extremely
cost efficient.
*It has a
fun old-school retro look
*They
offer a permanent mount that you can purchase separately.
They also
have blade replacements in the future if you need to replace the blade. If you
need a large hole sharpener for pencils they have a sharpener for that also.
I have to
confess that I hate a dull point on a pencil. It’s one of my pet peeves.
I have went through a lot of pencil sharpeners and not to mention money on them. Many have ended up in the trash after not making it through the school year. At the beginning of the school year I found myself looking for a different sharpener.
After,
only seven years and many pencil sharpeners later I received my first sharpener
from Classroom Friendly Supplies which was the Groovy Green one. I have had
that one for almost 2 years. I still have a perfect point every time with it.
Now, I
have a Hello Yellow pencil sharpener in my homeschool classroom!
I have another reason to love Classroom Friendly Supplies
pencil sharpeners.
You see I
have a daughter with Autism and she has a lot of sensory issues then you
combine that with an almost 11 year old boy who loves having a nice tip on his
pencil. He also likes to annoy his sister some days just because he can. An electric pencil sharpener is not so
friendly for a child who is sensitive to noise. Then to make matters worse the
tips of the pencils are always breaking over and over. It makes a sharp point
it just over sharpens the pencil. A long story short my son is always
sharpening his pencils. Next, comes the melt down from my daughter and she
loses her concentration and gets frustrated-thanks to the loud sharpener.
My son has
been learning how to draw and taking art classes. Having a nice pencil and
colored pencils with the perfect tip is a must have. You can see the before pictures and the after pictures of his drawing pencils
You start of by squeezing the black levers on top of the
sharpener. When squeezing you pull out the silver front of the sharpener. It’s
not complicated at all I promise you!
Once you pull out the front you squeeze the black levers
again to insert your pencil in the hole. Let go of the levers. Your pencil will
be help in place tightly. You do not need to hold your pencil when operating
the sharpener.
Start turning the sharpener lever while holding your hand on
top for support if it’s not mounted on a surface. You will actually fill the
difference while turning the lever once the pencil is sharpened with the
automatic stop.
Squeeze the black levers on top of the sharpener again to
remove the pencil.
Drum roll!!!!!!!! Look at that point on the pencil and the lead is intact and not looking like it’s going to fall out once you start
writing!
The only thing I have noticed is that on softer tips like
certain colored pencils the tip is perfect but, the tip tends to break easier.
The breakage is not a result of sharpening but, the softer material.
The mount attaches to your desk or table easily you just
attach the mount in the back hole of the sharpener. My family prefers the
sharpened not attached. You can find out more about mounting your sharpener here.
The pencil shavings are not a fine shaving dust that end up
everywhere.
What happens if you need to remove lead from the blades?
It's easy to fix the problem. Follow the link to find out more
information.
What
would I change?
I want to be able to order
a three pack with different colors at the discounted price. I want my kids to
have their own color so there is no one saying, “That’s my sharpener”! Then mom
can jump in and say, “Your sharpener is purple and his is yellow”. Give me a
rainbow in my classroom. Not bad for complaints if I can't name anything I
dislike or want changed with the product.
I am really pleased with the quality of this pencil
sharpener. I love having perfectly sharpened pencils that is done quietly and
easy.
Don’t forget to head over to Classroom Friendly Supplies and check out their
pencil sharpeners. You won’t be disappointed. I am one happy mommy! Thank you
for an amazing pencil sharpener.
Every sale to the end of November they
will be donating $1 from the sale of every "Hello Yellow" sharpener
to Childhood Cancer Awareness.
This product has been provided to me
free of charge and in no way was I asked to give a positive review. The
opinions I have expressed are my own.
