True to You by Becky Wade Book Review
May 24, 2017
It's the exciting start of a brand-new
series by a contemporary romance fan favorite!
After a devastating
heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora
Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far
safer than romance in the here and now.
Unlike Nora, former Navy
SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100
percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited
condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as
an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.
The more time they spend
together, the more this pair of opposite’s suspects they just might be a
perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's
ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real
relationship.
Finding the answers they're
seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion
to one another.
I decided to step out of my regular book genre. Sometimes I just need something completely different. I have a friend, who loves Becky Wade books so I decided to start with True to You.
Becky Wade drew me in with her writing style it was a unique way to do the story. You are going to have to find out for yourself as I’m not going to let the cat out of the bag. She captured my attention from the start. I liked how the main characters are so different from one another. I don’t recall ever reading a book when they are showing text and Facebook messages going back and forth. It made it a fun read while they are discovering John’s family history.
Some readers may be sensitive to a situation of rape that may touch to close to home. It’s not gone into in details and handled very tastefully. There was a few instances where sexual desires where talked about in the story line. It wasn’t blatant, I think the story could have done without it and it would have been fine.
Our Lord and Savior is a theme with the lives of the characters. It was funny at times and an easy light hearted read overall. I look forward to reading more books from Becky Wade in the future.
