Tori Comes Out of Her Shell: When You Are Lonely by Jayne V. Clark Book Review

Tori the turtle feels all alone. She has just moved to a new pond and a new school with her family and it seems like everyone has a friend except her. Her teacher notices she feels alone and helps her remember Jesus is always her friend and then along the way she makes some new friends. The last page contains information for Christian parents on how God, in his Word, helps us turn to Jesus when we are lonely. Together children and parents will be guided into meaningful conversations about living by faith in the details of everyday life. Also included is a tear-out page of Back Pocket Bible Verses that will give children a practical way to remember God's words when they feel all alone.

A new series of hardback, illustrated. Christian children's books for three-to eight-year-olds each centered on an animal family bringing gospel help and biblical counsel to families in need of the Christian word. The animal characters, colorful illustrations, and the real-life issues each animal family face will captivate children. The first three books address anxiety, anger, and failure, bringing biblical help and hope to issues every child faces.

My Thoughts:

This is one of the many books in the Good News for Little Hearts series. The books are intended for ages 3-8. All the books are Biblical Worldview and teach kids about Biblical principles.

Moving and starting a new school is tough and if you’re a shy kid it can be really tough. Torus just moved into a new neighborhood and has to start a new school. She tends to hide. She comes across Gertie the Gecko who is hiding in the bell. Together they form a friendship and overcome their loneliness. They find a even greater friend Jesus and that they are never lonely.

This is a sweet story about finding friends and not hiding because you’re afraid what others may say or think. It stinks being lonely and you don’t have to be lonely. This would be a perfect book for a kid who is shy or has Autism.

I love that this series deals with everyday issues that kids face. The stories are very realistic and told from the animal characters. The book is a good conversation starter for parent to have with their kids. I love that the story is from a Biblical Worldview.

The illustrations are captivating and have a lot of detail to keep little ones even more intrigued.

In the back of the book are scriptures cards and some tips for sharing with your kids.  A Gospel-focused discussion guide is also included.
