Two Steps Forward by Suzanne Woods Fisher Book Review

Back and broke in Stoney Ridge, Jimmy Fisher has coasted as long as he could through life on charm, good looks, and deep-set dimples. They always worked just fine for him--until they didn't. My Thoughts:

The third book in “The Deacon’s Family” series was worth the wait. I’m just sad to see the series coming to an end.

You get reacquainted with characters from the previous books in the series. If you haven’t read the first two books there is a glossary letting you know all the characters. The story can stand alone but you’d really appreciate the story more if you read the other two books first. I was really glad to get reacquainted with Luke and Izzy.

The main characters are Jimmy Fisher and Sylvie Schrock King, and her son. We can’t forget Prince the Arabian horse. Sylvie is a widower living on rundown farm that she inherited from her late husband. The Rising Star Farm use to belong to the Fisher family. The farm is adjacent to their homestead. Edith is not happy about it. The land use to belong to her grandfather. Edith doesn’t like Sylvia and is determined to get the land back.

When Edith’s son Jimmy returns back home after working on a horse farm in Colorado he finds himself drawn to Prince. He accepts Sylvie’s offer to help out at the farm, with the horses, and help get it back in shape.   

Jimmy finds himself attracted to Sylvie but he has a real fear of commitment. Sylvia is just as attracted to him. There are some misunderstanding and the meddling of Edith trying to interfere. Jimmy left all those years ago because of his mother and her strong and overwhelming personality. 

There are so many stories going on with the community of Stoney Ridge and they all weave together beautifully. This was an enjoyable story that I really liked a lot.
