The Lost Lieutenant by Erica Vetsch Book Review & Giveaway
May 12, 2020
He's
doing what he can to save the Prince Regent's life . . . but can he save his
new marriage as well?
Evan Eldridge never meant to be a war hero--he just wanted to fight Napoleon for the future of his country. And he certainly didn't think that saving the life of a peer would mean being made the Earl of Whitelock. But when the life you save is dear to the Prince Regent, things can change in a hurry.
Now Evan has a new title, a manor house in shambles, and a stranger for a bride, all thrust upon him by a grateful ruler. What he doesn't have are all his memories. Traumatized as a result of his wounds and bravery on the battlefield, Evan knows there's something he can't quite remember. It's important, dangerous--and if he doesn't recall it in time, will jeopardize not only his marriage but someone's very life.
Readers who enjoy Julie Klassen, Carolyn Miller, and Kristi Ann Hunter will love diving into this brand-new Regency series filled with suspense, aristocratic struggles, and a firm foundation of faith.

My Thoughts:
What a refreshing book that had a bit of mystery, intrigue,
an interesting plot, and romance. The story is set in the Napoleonic wars era
which is such an interesting time in history. You have a tyrant on the throne
in England. The social etiquette of the time is interesting. The plot has a lot
of fascination as it weaves through the tale.
I loved the characters. You have your bad guys and
good guys and both sided are intriguing. Who I thought was going to be a bad guy
ended up being a good guy. The main character Evan Eldridge captures
you heart immediately he is a man of character despite his flaws. He’s a man of
strong conviction and faith. He acts like a true gentleman and noble man before
he saves the life of the Prince Regent, who by the way is a man who is only a
gentleman by appearance but a real scum with his less than stellar character. Evan
finds himself suddenly with a new title of the Earl of Whitelock, a new manor
house that needs some major TLC-whoa that is a lot of change. Not only all of
that but an arranged marriage to a complete stranger Diana Seaton. Her family
is not the greatest and a bit shady but she is a gem that happens to have a
sizable inheritance. I always love books that have characters with a lot of
depth.
I
almost forgot another character Marcus Havery who helps Evan navigate the new
society that is thrust upon him suddenly-you will see him in the next book in
this series.
The relationship
between Evan and Diana is sweet and complex. They both have a lot of secrets
and are very unsure of themselves in this relationship. They both have some
traumatic events from their past that they are trying to overcome.
I can’t
say enough good things about this book it was that good. It would make a good
movie too.
