God With Us A Journey Home by Jeremy Pierre Book Review
Author Jeremy Pierre and illustrator Cassandra Clark want to awaken children to a brave journey―a journey home.
This world is not our home. We live east of Eden and short of Heaven. The earlier children understand this, the more sense they can make out of this sad, wonderful place. This storybook aims to shape their vision of the world as a place in-between, to awaken them to the brave journey they must take toward their true home—their home with God.
My Thoughts:
This is a beautiful book that weaves together Bible stories. It has a theme to acknowledge the presence of God. God created us to have a relationship with Him in the beginning. It takes you on a journey throughout the Bible until you are reunited with our Creator and Savior.
There are a total of thirty chapters. Each chapter starts out with some scriptures that you look up giving you several addresses from the scriptures. Then it has a scripture written out. Then the Biblical story follows: Joseph in Egypt and him interpreting dreams and it then talks about how God meant it for good. It takes you on a journey through the scriptures. It reminds me of a devotional in some aspects but not completely.
The illustrations are breathtaking and very enjoyable looking through them. They look like beautiful watercolors. On each page, you can explore all the details.
The book is for ages 4-12. I feel teens would like this as it plays out the salvation message as the stories progress. It's done in a way that isn't overwhelming or preachy but has a clear picture of salvation.
