Hanukkah Day Seven
December 26, 2011
Hanukkah is just going by so fast. I really enjoy the time that my family gets to spend together. My beloved has been off work so it makes it that much more special. Hanukkah doesn't always fall during the shut down for the holidays at his work. We had a few days home to celebrate together.
Tonight you will light seven candles on the Hanukkah Menorah using the servant candle or Shamash candle when the sun goes down. Remember to put the candles in from right to left (like reading Hebrew) and them after you light the Shamash you light the others from left to right.
You recite these two blessing before lighting the candles.
English: Blessed are You, Lord our God, Ruler of the universe, who has sanctified us with Your commandments, and has commanded us to kindle the lights of Hanukkah.
1 Peter 2:9
13 But everything exposed to the light is revealed by the light. 14 Everything that is revealed by the light is light. Therefore it says, Wake up, sleeper![a] Get up from the dead,[b] and Christ will shine on you.[c]

Here are a few scriptures ideas to read the 7th night of Hanukkah.
1 Peter 2:9
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people who are God’s own possession. You have become this people so that you may speak of the wonderful acts of the one who called you out of darkness into his amazing light.
Ephesians 5:13-14
1 John 1:5-9
The message: God is light
5 This is the message that we have heard from him and announce to you: “God is light and there is no darkness in him at all.” 6 If we claim, “We have fellowship with him,” and live in the darkness, we are lying and do not act truthfully. 7 But if we live in the light in the same way as he is in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin. 8 If we claim, “We don’t have any sin,” we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from everything we’ve done wrong. All scriptures are taken from the Common English Bible
