The Secret Keeper by Beverly Lewis Book Review
October 11, 2013
Come home to Hickory Hollow, Pennsylvania--the beloved setting where Beverly Lewis's celebrated Amish novels began--with new characters and new stories of drama, romance, and the ties that draw people together.
Jennifer Burns shocks her family and friends when she bids farewell to her modern life in favor of the Old Order Amish world, settling in with Samuel and Rebecca Lapp.
The people of Hickory Hollow are curious about the beautiful young seeker among them--one handsome Amishman in particular--and Jenny faces many challenges in the Proving time the brethren set for her...challenges of the heart, as well as the spirit.
My Thoughts:
Another
wonderful book in the Hickory Hollow series- I
have read every single book written by Beverly Lewis so far and have not yet
been disappointed.
I really enjoy reading an
Amish fiction from a different perspective. Reading about Jenny’s desire to be
and old order Amish was different and fun to read. I also really enjoyed
that Beverly included some familiar characters from past stories.
I love to revisited
characters from other books. Beverly Lewis is amazing at reacquainting you with
well-beloved characters.
I found that the
characters were likeable. There wasn’t enough of Andrew, which we rarely saw in
the book. I wanted to see more interaction between Andrew and Jenny and when
their time together was so spread out and brief, I was kind of disappointed.
Overall it was a great book.
You do not need to read the first book to read this one. It stands on its
own just like all of Beverly Lewis’s books do.
This book has
been provided to me my by Bethany House Publisher free of charge and in no way
was I asked to give a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my
own.
