9TH Grade Curriculum Choice
August 28, 2017
It’s hard to believe that my Bug is in High School. It’s
been challenging but, worth it all homeschooling my special needs daughter. She
has accomplished much more than anyone could have imagined. She is a beautiful young lady with a heart of gold.
She is nowhere near doing 9th grade curriculum. I
know that she works hard to do what she is doing. I’m real proud of her.
Bible
We read the Bible together at the
start of our school day.
We are also going to finish up The
Gospels Drive thru History with Dave Stotts. You can see my review here.
She is finishing up Brave Girls Beautifully
You by Jennifer Gerelds from last year.
Faithgirlz Whatever is Lovely by Allia
Zobel when she finishes her other devotional.
Math
Bug has surprised everyone in math.
She can add up and count money extremely fast when she sales her products from
her beehives. She is extremely good with multiplying numbers.
She will continue with Teaching
Textbooks 5 and we will add on other items to help her out as needed. Teaching
Textbooks has been a good fit for her as she likes the independence it gives
her. She needs a lot of help in so many areas. This is one area that she can be
independent with little help from me.
I let her do some concepts with a calculator
after fighting it for a long time. Her Autism specialist recommended this also.
She knows how to figure it out she just can’t think in some of the abstract
concepts with math.
Language Arts and Grammar
IEW Poetry you can read my review here.
Christian Light Language Arts
Word of the Day
Handwriting
Write Through the Bible
Copywork from Homeschool Copywork you
can read my review on it here.
Reading
Pathway Readers
I add on other books throughout the
year. I can never plan all her books as reading is difficult and I go with
her interest at the time.
She doesn’t do spelling anymore.
History
Notgrass History she will do this with
her brother.
From Adam to Us. She won’t do the Timeline,
Map Book, Student Workbook, Lesson Review, Our Creative World and the readers
like her brother. It would overwhelm her.
365 Fascinating Facts about Israel by
Clarence Wagner
Geography
Rand McNally Intermediate Geography
& Map Activities
We are going to be notebooking with
the 50 States and the Presidents
Science
She will be doing a separate science
than her brother this year. This is the first time I’ve done this.
She has been wanting to learn more
about geology. She will be doing The Mineral Book and the Geology Book by
Master Books. I’ve picked up a nice rock tumbler and some other experiments
along with a rock collection.
Electives
