Seeds of Hope by Barbara Cameron Book Review and Giveaway
December 21, 2017
A
heartwarming tale of discovering love right in front of you
Miriam Troyer has had a secret crush on
Mark Byler since she was a teenager, but she knows they can never have a
relationship: Mark is a big-city attorney and an Englischer. Her Amish
community is too far removed from all he knows-and she loves her quiet way of
life.
Mark has always loved his visits to his
grandfather's farm, but he's convinced the Amish life isn't for him. There's so
much of the world to see and experience, and the excitement of his successful
law practice can't be matched by the slow pace of life found back home in the
country.
But when things go wrong and his firm
distances itself from him to try to save themselves, Mark finds himself back at
his grandfather's farm. Could life in this simple world be worth living after
all? Especially when the teenager he remembers has grown into a woman that
could be his future. Suddenly, these two people whose lives seem so far apart
may get a chance to really see each other for the first time.
My Thoughts:
I haven’t read
any of Barbara Cameron books prior to this review. I look
forward to exploring more of her titles in the future.
I’m a fan of the Amish genre. I love the simplicity of
their life without the mayhem of this busy world. I love the wholesome plots.
Most of them are pretty similar and that’s okay.
The characters are realistic and fun. I love the
scriptures weaved throughout the story. The story does move a bit slow at times
but that’s okay it was a nice and fulfilling read.
I liked Mark’s character in this story. He is a
driven and successful up and coming lawyer. He also has a lot of compassion and
a soft spot to help out his Amish grandfather. He enjoys his job and his life
as a lawyer. His grandfather wants Mark to take over the family farm so it can
stay in the family. When he is forced to take some time off he finds himself
helping during harvest time at his grandfather’s farm. He reconnects to his neighbor
friend Miriam.
Miriam is a sweet character with a bit of spunk. Her
family is fun as they interact with one another. Miriam has had a huge crush on
Mark for many years. She has taken care of Marks grandfather by bringing him
food daily and continues to bring food when Mark is there.
The big question is can one of them leave behind the
only life they have ever known. Mark grew up in the big city after his family
left the Amish life behind and Miriam only knows the lifestyle of the Amish.
You won’t get any spoilers from me so you are going to have to read it for
yourself.
